Fairly rare to see a non-Silver stacker speak their mind on Youtube for sure. He does stack Gold though so he's still a stacker. What do you think about what he's saying! Do you stack Silver, the price is still affordable so many are buying? It would have been great if I would have bought generic Silver in March or April of 2020 but I wasn't thinking Silver would go up to $40+ for an American Silver Eagle at all, did you?? Did you make big profits off of buying generics? Any comments?

    I buy what I like.
Occasionally I find someone who wants a piece more then I do and it finds a new home.
The voices in my home say you cant keep everything :p

I don't flip generic silver like "Thing" in the video. I stack rolls of uncirculated numismatic silver (U.S. Dimes, Quarters, and Halves mostly). If I see what I like at a price I'm willing to pay, I buy it. I don't time any of my purchases to the bullion market.

Whenever I find Unc rolls for 25% over spot (or less), I back up the truck...regardless of what the spot price happens to be at the time. When prices go above a 25% premium, I slow down.

To add a couple points to my previous post...there are two (2) numbers I commit to memory...3.618 and 7.236. The first (3.618) is the number of "pure" silver ounces in an Unc roll of 20th century 90% silver U.S. Dimes. The second (7.236) is the number of "pure" silver ounces in an Unc roll of 20th century 90% silver U.S. Quarters and Halves (twice that of the Dime).

As an example, when silver spot is $27/Oz, an Unc roll of Dimes contains $97.69 worth of silver. Quarters and Halves contain twice that...or $195.37. When I set my "buy" price at a 25% premium, that puts the price I'm willing to pay for an Unc roll of Dimes at $122/roll and twice that ($244/roll) for Quarters and Halves. I only deal with Unc rolls since coins can lose 10% or more of their weight as they circulate (not to mention the loss of numismatic value). I sometimes buy Proof rolls, but folks generally demand higher premiums for Proofs.

I've also noticed that when silver spot prices rise, folks tend to require a greater premium for their holdings. As silver spot prices fall, folks tend to require a lesser premium. By focusing on premium percentage rather than price, I tend to buy more rolls at lower prices and fewer rolls at higher prices.

Even if you believe that the silver market is being manipulated by mega-traders, they can't manipulate people's perception of numismatic value. Therefore, I think of the "true" silver price for numismatic silver as spot price "plus" the prevailing premium. Expecting to buy numismatic silver at spot is a Fool's errand.

I also notice that numismatic premiums rise as coins age...with a noticeable spike at the 70 year mark...so I take that into account, also. In short, I currently scan eBay for late date rolls (1953-1964) from trusted sellers for Dimes (up to $125/roll) and Quarters and Halves (up to $250/roll). If I can't find them at those prices, I wait. Again, these numbers fluctuate with the prevailing silver spot price.

    That's how I roll (pun intended). :D

20 years ago, silver spot was around $7/Oz and folks were giving away Unc rolls of Mercury Dimes from the 1940's. I backed up the truck @$35/roll. A few years later, I bought a $250 (face) brick of 1955-s Rosies @$37/roll. Everyone on CT told me what an idiot I was.

Granted, I may have made more money had I spent that money on Amazon stock...but I did that, too.

I'm thinking about selling some silver but it's just a thought right now as I have no idea what's gonna happen with the price of silver at all. :D I believe our economy is a complete mess following coronavirus and with all the cyber hacking that's going on it may get a lot worse. Plus, with all the money that the government printed with nothing to back it up, we the public are gonna end up paying for that somehow. Inflation is likely to hit us like a ton of bricks so time will tell.

I don't have that much, maybe 50 or 60 oz.
I figure I'll just hold it and my kids will get it, unless it hits $100, then I'll probably sell and invest it something else. In the meantime, no matter what you'll always have something of value.

I’m not buying at today’s prices. I have well over 600 ounces of silver plus tons of 90% junk silver coins, all purchased at $12.00 an ounce or less. Today’s prices are okay but the premium is insane.

No idea really. I just turned 67 and not pressed for money so I’ll hang on to it for awhile. My best guess is with the way things are currently going another 10 years it should be higher. I’ll wait. :)

I agree, the world is just getting over the pandemic and the US economy has taken a beating! Not only that, there's a lot of cyber hacking that's going on so it will be interesting to see what happens to the US Dollar in the next few years! On top of the hacking, there's a political standoff going on with no end in sight! :( Silver has me completely puzzled but I wish I had more as there may be a big payday coming ahead, you just can't call it! :D

I hear that. I just have enough that I don’t think about it but at today’s prices and premiums, I’d be very cautious.

game as well, trying to find the sweet water 1/10 Palladium coin going for about
$500, sometimes you can find them on ebay the APE is about $3,000 give

Well, I hope you get a 1/10 Palladium coin as I'd like to see one. :D I know they exist but on ebay you mostly see ounces. Too much money for me.

Putting aside silver and gold for a moment ...and for Curiosity sake - all of you who are critical of the value (or your expectations of future value) of the US dollar. Which countries currency do you think is much better than the USA ?
