It's probably impossible to quantify how much celebs/athletes play a role in the economy. But I'm sure MANY sectors make a lot of money off of them.

We know most of them aren't all that financial literate, so as they make more money, most will just spend them...

Yes, My wife has it spread all over the county! The banks seem to like her business they send her boxes of candy in the mail on her birthday and on Christmas too. You also can double the FDIC insurance amount by having 2 names on the account but alas my wife is too smart to put my name on any of them!

That's too funny Yankee.... but didn't you also once say your wife didn't know how much gold you had or she'd want more shoes and stuff? LOL! You two sound like a perfect match!

Your wife - "Honey? Ever since I added your name, why is there 1 ton of gold sitting in our living room?"

Yankee - "Inflation!!! Trust me on this!!"

She doesn't have control of my bank account either I have a inheritance from my fathers death in the bank Its not anywhere close to what my wife has but its mine and she doesn't know the code to watch the account. I feel its a good thing for married couples to each have their own mad money accounts that way you can spend money without fighting over permission to do so. I also keep my acount acrossed the state line. If I ever have to make a RUN for it I can get at it much easyer!

Although I'm not married, I think this is very important for couples. Yes, love is blind, you want to do everything together. But hey, it does rub off later on, and you'll want to have your own loot so you can buy a new car if you want to with your own money.

My buddy got married 3 years ago and he's always managed his own money. Now that he's married, his wife does it and he needs to get permission. It really irks me because it's like he just gave up his right to his own money. It doesn't make logical sense to me.

I cannot consciously ever give someone else complete control of my finances ever.

I do let her do her part in the relationship I let her pay all the bills and taxes! I think it isn't hurtful for couples to have separate accounts a grown up should be able to buy a item he or she wants without asking someone first. I know many couples that have such accounts. My wife knows of the acount in case something happens to me like death. but thats all she knows

I agree, people should keep their fun money in their own care. joint accounts are okay for other things too. I like your humor though with making a run for it, too funny!

so as an investor...how many plate sets are you guys gonna order?

I heard the decorative plate industry is really booming cause of that bubble boy plate set and the Mark sanford plate sets but I wonder if these plate sets are really going to keep their value like the morgan dollars for $29.95 that come in fine to BU condition or the 35 mg of pure gold American Gold Buffalo copy...

I just feel the market is becoming over saturated with all these "investment" opportunities :D

course sometimes I think heck with silver and gold I want those plates!

I collect the plates for the gold foil tipped edges which I shave off and save up to send to the metals refinery. :goofer: ....only joking!

My wife and I have everything joint. It's been like that for 27 years and has never been a burden. I wouldn't have it any other way and love doesn't "rub off." If you aren't willing to share the decisions of life, don't get married. It's probably a signal from the subconscious that you have the wrong spouse picked out.

congrats on the 27 years. I'm not sure what the divorce rate is now, I'm sure it's above 65%. I just don't beleive my generation right now is mature enough to get married. I'm not that young, but not that old either, right in the middle I suppose.

Half the people I know who got married are now divorce and I already knew it was going to happen.

I really think so many people do it because they think they are suppose to or think they are in love. Divorces can financially ruin both people. Unfortunately I would have to say, more men than females.
It seems cookie cutter right now. Get out of college, date a few people, before you turn 30, get married.

Odd coincidence..we've also been married 27 years, everything is jointly owned.
When I look back on the really important decisions that were made, they were jointly made after a fair amount of due diligence..and for the most part, turned out well..

Say any predictions when gold is gonna start going up again? I hope it starts coming up soon. I'm hoping it hits $1350 by March but I'll settle for what we get. Anyone?
