So fast! Really beautiful to see them Chuck. Thanks for sharing.

I can't stand looking at those illustrations on the Mint web site of the coins, they just don't work alone without a photograph of the coin, maybe they should post both: the diagram and a representative photo. Anyway...

    :eek:hya:The look great!:hail:

Mint would never post high res nice pictures of a coin... either it will be perfect and then give the illusion that they are all that way, or be flawed and encourage people to not buy them. Crappy for them either way. Think about coin collecting in say... 1880, you would be lucky to see a black and white sketch your friend draws of one he saw. Im happy with a drawing, I can imagine :p

Glad the illustration works for you. However, this isn't 1880. We fortunately have more options for reproduction and visual description at our disposal. Of course the Mint uses an illustration since they need something in place to represent the design ahead of actual production to start attracting buyers.

I didn't say anything remotely related to wanting the Mint to post a 'high res' photo of a coin, just a 'representative photo'. I'm sure if anything, they'd only put up an appropriate or even watermarked low res file, anything better would be a problem for some web users and also could be used as a tool by others for malicious purposes. Many websites put up a 'representative photo of the coins they sell. Apmex.com has them for instance.

Of course the Mint wouldn't make any claims to their coins grades, that's not their business nor issue to deal with. A simple legal disclaimer, as found in all manner of product advertising, especially IF making any claims to a products quality or performance, can be used to discourage buyers from thinking the coin in 'photographic representation' is anything other than a device for picturing the product to be procured.

As an aside and not the intention of what a 'representative photo' would be used for above, it's ironic to the nature of coin collectors who preach not to buy coins sight-unseen, but they do it all day long from the Mint and lots get burned and need to return/exchange product.

The Mint has been putting shipping dates out there weeks after you buy, but end up shipping weeks earlier, from my experience. :eating:

I think you're on to something Elaine. I noticed that also and bought 10 more on Thursday. At the time order was in BO status, ship date of 11-20.
Got up today, still on BO and date moved to 12-3. I don't think they have quite sold out but it won't be long. JMO only.....

imagine we are waiting for mint to reduce the price from $1,360.00 to $1,310.00. instead now we are wondering if the price will go up to $1,410.00 for ABG proof.

Glad I ordered mine! Placed the order 11/3 and listed as "In Stock and Reserved" and "Order request is in Process" but with no shipping date (is that good or bad?) Mint has been having a lot of trouble reconciling my billing address for the past year even though I've confirmed it a dozen times, neither my credit card or billing address has changed and they've been shipping product using the same card in that interval. Go figure...

Elaine, will the 2010 Platinum be in the UHR series, or are the plans to move UHR to other products on pause (or nonexistent)?

Not only that, now we wonder if they will announce they are sold out!

I hope everyone here at CT at least gets one. Then we can all hope they sell out!

    Good luck!
    Chuck

It won't hurt to wait until next Wednesday to see what the mint does. If gold continues to rise, I will most likely get my order in by next Wednesday, but if gold begins to come down then I will continue to wait.
