Dont even bother... asked her/him 10 times what the estimates are based on... never get an answer.

Ok...well my estimate is 21,474 so I wanted to help her find the err in her assumptions.

for those that submit coins for grading....do you use a dealer or are you a member? if you use a dealer, do they send it in for you or are you responsible for that? more specifically, do you have to relinquish your coin to the dealer? i'm a newbie here.

be careful krispy. the mint became more clever. i bought 5 pc buffalo proof this morning. and only few hours later. the mint take off the box for cancellation. it's good. i only ordered half. did you order it already?.

Me order from the Mint today, this week? "No way Jose!" as elaine might say! I'm seriously going to wait and save up... hoping for the next pull back to come along. By they way, sold an LN6 and also received 5 x 4pc Lincoln Proof sets, they look so nice.

i cancel 10 set lincoln proof set. 5 in my name and 5 with other. because i thought i got 100 set of clad proof set. so i already got 100 set. i also got 100 set of clad quarter set without box and c.o.a. and also plan to buy 100 set of presidential set without box and c.o.a.

krispy. why not buy one pc right now?. i think gold will hit $1,200.00 to $1,300.00 before it will come down a little bit above $1,000.00 by year 2011. but the trend is still going up. mr. jim rogers even said. it will pass $2,000.00.

I like playing the risk of waiting this one out. May just buy some fractional AGE before the Buffalo. May skip the Mint Proof AGB all together and wait for a graded one around melt if the mintage continues to rise. Not sure yet. I'm sure by 2011, the price will have done all sorts of acrobats. ;)

good move. 2009 american eagle fractional bullion gold might be the best buy. and they are far better than AGB one ounce proof. but as long as the mintage below 20,000 each. december 3, i think is the official availability from the mint. and it might end production on december 11,2009, of course the mint start production much more earlier. hopefully the mintage will be below 20,000 each. one bad thing is that the dealers might check all the coins and slab the good one. and sell those rejects to us. how can we get ms70?.

Really? I have yet to find official numbers on the usmint.gov website. I do see blogs/trade rags quoting the numbers.

Why are fractional AGEs "far better" that 1oz AGBs?

I meant that literally in jest since the mint produces coins and releases all such information.

The numbers you are seeing posted are sales figures, not the most accurate mintage numbers, and mintage numbers will continue to fluctuate for some years. Most publications will not even publish numbers for a recent 4-5 years due to the lack of accountability.

For circulating coins just visit the Mint's coin production page

MintNewsBlog, CoinNews, Numismaster the other regularly published periodicals regularly gather the weekly (sometimes twice weekly) figures and post them online for you. You can also get info from CDN

AGE fractionals carry nice resale premiums. 1/2 ounce seems to worth more and less seem to be produced often. AGEs from dealers (not Mint) don't have the big mark up like a Proof or collector coin from the Mint. You get more for your money, and better potential reward down the road. Nothings set in stone, just what I've seen and consider when buying at a moment like this when gold is rushing about and getting folks excited.
