It’s just a 2021 1/10th oz AGE. Nothing too huge or exciting. But I’ve been trying to stack 1/10th oz of gold every month this year and this is what I picked this month. I think next month I’ll get a 1/10th oz Gold Britannia ^_^
Why is that? Normally if I take a coin out of a 2x2 I break the window and don’t mess with the staples.
Well it came in a flip but I don’t like those with super small coins because sometimes they slide out.
The staples can scratch or mar by sliding the rounded crimp across other coins in 2x2's. They do make flat crimp staplers. I recently picked up one on Amazon for about $20. Also with a flat crimp staple you can staple the coin side of the flip which locks the coin in.
Whoever sent it to you that way should of done a better job in handling it. You paid good money for a gold coin and they send you a crappy 2x2? Just saying.
You mean JM Bullion? They shipped it fine. It came in a flip and it was BU as advertised. I'm just saying I don't like flips for tiny coins because they do fall out sometimes and with tiny coins it's more likely.
Ooh gotchya! Yeah this coin isn't stored with any other coins so I don't have to worry about it damaging anything else. This is just a short term thing until I get an air-tight capsule for it. I like capsules the best
I use clear shipping tape to seal 2 x 2 papers and is far easier and better than staples just finished about 200 from the 50's! a little tedious but end result far better
I would probably do that if I was planning on storing them long term in a 2x2. But I'm just waiting for a 16mm capsule from Ebay so this is just a temporary thing until that gets here.
I would consider getting airtites for tiny gold like that. Anyways I would suggest looking into older gold. Spanish portrait gold is pretty affordable. Just my preference/recommendation. The Brittanias look cool, never had one but I see why you want one.
Yeah I have a 16mm airtite coming in from Ebay and so this 2x2 thing is temporary. I think I want the gold Britannia because I really like the new security features on the Britannias. I like the way the padlock turns into a trident went rotated in the light. I like the microengraving of "Decus et Tutamen" ("An ornament and a safeguard"). I like the way the waves in the background ripple when the coin is tilted. Basically I just really like that the Britannia has all sorts of cool security features like that.
It really is a beautiful coin, I didn't know about the security features but that is very impressive. If only the US Mint had that same quality with bullion. I like how they added the "Decus et Tutamen" As that is also on the George III crowns I have. Let us know if you get one!
Yeah for sure! The Royal Mint did an amazing 2 minute video explaining all the new security features for 2021 Gold & Silver Britannias. Here is the link to the video on APMEX’s page: https://www.apmex.com/product/219229/2021-great-britain-1-oz-gold-britannia-bu Just scroll to the last photo and it’s a video by the Royal Mint. One of my favorite RM videos
I've seen some 1/20th oz coins too. But I don't like to deal with anything smaller than 1/10th ozt. The premiums are just too high and the 1 gram stuff is so little and flimsy and easy to lose. 1/10th oz has a pretty high premium too but it's still about the size of a dime so it's not so small that it's difficult to handle.
