in order next week for maintaining the price at $1,360.00 for 09 buffalo proof. the average two days and a half london gold price should maintain at least $1,055.00 or higher. or else the mint will adjust down the price to $1,310.00.

It looks like the big coin dealers, shopping networks and institutional investors are buying heavily. it might be a repeat on last year that the several thousands remain stocks were being bought by them. the mint have no choice but to declare sell out.

My guess is that the mintage is around 30,000-40,000. (mintage higher than 2008w but lower than 2006w & 2007w). it can be sell out within these few days. the mint no need to impose household limit and state maximum mintage. wow. even can't wait for a price drop by next Thursday. the 2009w buffalo proof might be all gone. that is my prediction. i even did not order it yet. hopefully my thought and lousy prediction is wrong. i need help and good advises. Krispy. please help me.

Well, I placed my order today, despite being overpriced by $50 for the following reasons:

    - We know the Mint is never fast about shipping anything (even stuff they already have prepared for shipping) so there is time to back out. Maybe not a lot of time, but enough time to monitor the price of gold until Monday morning, at the least.

    - We don't know how many blanks the Mint has acquired. My guess is that they acquired enough to mint sufficient coins to satisfy the average mintage across the first three years of the Buffalo's release. Your guess of 40,000 sounds about right to me.

    - Dealers who have been holding off on big bullion purchases in the hopes of being able to spread their money around on West Point AGE, ASE and AGB now only have one choice: the proof Buffalo. Possibly dealers will buy the vast majority. They certainly aren't spending their money on the First Spouse series, which has very little collector appeal, and thus, very little demand.

I'm feeling pretty good about my order. Mostly because the First Strike gimmick (thanks PCGS) is like insurance against a big loss because so many gullible folks are willing to pay big money for that silly First Strike PR70.

i have some questions for you argento. since i never sell any coins yet.

    1. how you going to send those coins to slab. do you send it directly. (i wish it could be this way). or indirectly via dealer. if dealer. do we have to pay the dealer for servicing.

    2. what will be the cost of everything?. slab company, shipping, insurance, and miscellaneous cost?. and do you keep the box and c.o.a.?.

    3. why is it 70's perfect coin is very high. while the 69's sometimes even lower than raw coin?.

    4. well. i also have many questions on e-bay buy and sell things. and digital camera, transfer files to computer, upload and download. those will be a million dollars questions. i don't want to ask you more. maybe i will learn it when i start plan to sell them. but it is just kind of hobby that i don't want to sell. i love coins and collections. maybe that is my real hobby.

I send directly, both PCGS and NGC now allow direct submissions if you buy a membership for $40-$50. I prefer PCGS only because they fetch more money.

Depending on the service (NGC or PCGS) $15-$25 per coin, shipped. The price can vary as there can be fees for First Strike/Early Releases but $15-$25 per coin is the usual. Yes, I keep all of the original materials (even the white cloths), including the capsule.

I don't know, people are strange. There is almost no difference.

The hardest part is learning to take good pictures. On eBay, a good picture can boost a coin sale buy 20% over an auction with poor pictures. Also, the only reason I ever sell anything is to lower the costs for the coins I actually keep.

thank you very much argento. two more things. first. you said send coin to slab even without capsule. will be it damage the coin. or maybe insert it in a clear plastic 2 x 2 holder. but i might prefer original capsule and send it to them. second. you sold something at ebay. do you have to pay taxes for just few coins?. how can paypal in turn pay you?. how long? is it a company check?.

I pack the coins I send to be slabbed very carefully in 2x2 flips. So long as you pack the coins very well with lots of packing materials to prevent them from moving around inside the box, they will be safe. I've sent hundreds this way with no problem.

I'm sure legally there is probably some tax somewhere that has to be paid but for only a 10-20 coins a year, i don't think anyone cares.

PayPal sends the money direct to my bank if I want but I usually never do that. I have a Visa debit card for my PayPal account and usually buy coins and other stuff with that. I try to keep my real bank account and PayPal bank account separate so that I don't over-spend my coin budget. I know if my PayPal account has money, I can buy coins and if it has no money, I probably have to sell coins.

you send hundred of coins at the same time. how would you know all those coins?. like a perfect coin. can it be secretly change by a slab personnel?. do you have to make photos on those coins?. do you have to list down everything in a piece of paper. for yourself and for them?. how long it travel to reach their place?.

Hi elaine / argento... just catching up this morning.

elaine, I think you should hold on until next week to buy AGB Proof. It might feel risky to wait but why pay more since you buy so many pieces. I don't think AGB will be a sell out in a week from the Mint. I think you are correct to suspect what drove the initial sales so high. What may happen before sell out is the initial delivery date might get pushed back for orders if they exceed a certain amount within one week. I am willing to take this chance. Gold price hasn't changed much overnight, the worst that could happen is gold goes up next week which would slow the rate of sales after next week if repricing occurs. Also the price could stay the same and you can still buy next week for the price you could this week. And best case scenario, products are repriced lower and you can buy buy buy. That's my general take on buying AGB.

Also, elaine, it's very easy to send coins in for TPG grading, it just has an expense which you have to justify and it does take some time to get your coins back from grading as the process is quite slow for standard grading orders, so if you are impatient the wait could drive you crazy, a little.:)

now the gold is traded below $1,040.00 an ounce. be sure to cancel your order before it is too late. the mint process them very quickly this time. in order to prevent massive cancellation. they even process during week end. hurry...........

so many cancellation. now if you order right now. the mint can ship you right away. the mint erase the 11/12/09 shipment date. be sure to cancel quickly. mint is looking and catching at us.

at the first place. the mint should have offer it at $1,310.00. it should have been sell out. the dump personnel in-charge at the mint should be fire. they should have offer special discount to us. they should not always make more profits from dying collectors. someday collectors will be tire at them. thus the mint might have to close the business.

I don't think they will close up shop and quit unless they run out of materials to mint. Maybe you should apply for Moy's job and go in there to fix that mess for us. You can do it!
