Just curious what the dealers offer where you are at. What is the spread and what coins do they sell as 90%?
The shop I buy from doesn't separate out much like Apmex does. The price is pretty much the same whether you buy a roll of dimes or a $100 face bag. Walker halves are the same price as Franklins or Kennedys. Sometimes there are SLQs or AG Barbers mixed in with the Washingtons. Also plenty of early date Mercury dimes as well as the Roosevelts. All the same price.
Yesterday with silver around $16.80, they were buying at 11.1x and selling at 12.3x. How does your favorite shop handle 90%?

I picked up a roll of Mercury dimes...a few unc from the 40s, but mostly teens, 20s, and 30s. Also got a roll of quarters...4 AG Barbers...29 SLQs about half were dateless...the rest were 30s Washingtons. And I got a roll of Walking Lib halves...half were 17s and 18s, the other half of the roll was all 20s. Owner hooks me up since I help out there sometimes, so I bought these at 12x face. How did I do?

Sounds to me like your dealer is a good one! I think you did very well. He/she must like you.

I've got the hookup on some for well under melt. I can't tell you where though ;)

Guy around here buys for about 2/3 of what spot actually is, and sells for 16x face. He's obviously not interested in anything but large profits.

OUCH! That is a pretty big margin.

With melt around 12x+, I consider 16x high, but not outrageously so. Most dealers in my area sell junk silver 13x to 15x face.

I don't know how good a deal I got here at 13.5x face value but I'll willing to trade around with people if they pay the shipping cost

That reminds me of the kid selling lemonade at a roadside stand, he had a large sign Ice cold Lemonade 20$ a glass. A man walking by looked at the sign and told the kid, "hey kid at those prices you wont sell much lemonade"

"I know" the kid said, "but I only have to sell one glass"

Perhaps some dealers are like that kid, they do not have much to sell so they jack up their prices, while the dealer that sells on lower margins makes just as much if not more through volume.

I just sold $135 face value of 90% silver for 13.5x face, but they were all Barber Halves, Barber Quarters and Barber dimes. I originally negotiated the price with the buyer about 2 months ago when silver was lower, but I've been holding them all this time until just last week (now that silver has gone up!). Didn't try to renegotiate the price though, I guess I'm just too nice of a guy :)

Local dealer is normally buys $2 face below and sells $4 face above! I think most of your competetive bid/ask spreads are going to be online.
