There is a clearly a lack of hysteria in this forum and this thread. Last time gold crested $950 there were calls of it hitting $20K or some nonsense.

    You guys are slipping.

    bleh... hysteria is boring overkill.

"20K" as in $20,000.00 or was that a slip, meaning 2k as in $2,000.

Actually hysteria or emotion is a good thing for the price of gold so if someone wants to go crazy have at it. :eating:

bad for those who don't understand what the hysteria does to them when in the moment of the rush to buy mentality or for those who get involved at times when it's making glitzy headlines when they could be paying off other things like mortgages, debts, etc. prior to getting too much into metals. i prefer a non hysteria approach, for each indiidual to figure out a regular purchasing plan and invest not just in pms but balancing how much goes into them and other things.

Oh I didn't mean to go crazy and buy gold, I just meant to talk about it. I don't have alot of gold but if it goes up to $1500 I may part with half an oz. I love gold far too much to think about it solely in the terms of making money off it.

I agree, and I might part with my lower denominations if the price goes that high, such as my grams in exchange for higher ones, since the grams fetch a nice premium

// I hope so I have 34, 10 gram pamp bars I will be selling when the price on gold rises above $1000. I paid a $6.00 premium each for the pamps when I got them

I have always said that I do not believe that gold will top $1000 and if it does it won't stay there for long...IMHO

Do you have a particular time frame in mind, or is this prediction forever?

Also, what are your reasons for thinking this way?

I do beleive there will be a time that gold tops 1K and your deposit box will be worth more than it is now.

There is only so much gold on this planet and eventually the mines will not be able to fill demand.

When will that be? Who knows. I gotta beleive it will be in the next couple of generations so depending on your age you might be able to take advantage.

Worst case your surviving family members will thank you.

Do not gold and gems stones form from volcanic activity in proximity to natural water sources? Since the earth is still alive and volcanically active, the supply is theoretically still being pumped out somewhere on earth along the ring of fire.

In the next couple of generations and beyond, when the easily accessed earth supply is above ground and account for, missions to moons and other planets may begin to offer a seemingly limitless supply of ANY materials, provided they're still in demand and accessible to humans via extra terrestrial excavation and space transit. People will laugh at this notion and chide the space program as a waste now, but it is underway and the future will include such matters, thinking and activity and ultimately define what will happen.

Maybe but the extraterrestrial portion would drive the costs into the many thousands of dollars per ounce and anything you own now will be worth a fortune. :)

With the cost of delivery, extraction, and research, the only way space gold mining would be profitable would be if there was a colony on the moon and mars and earth has used up all of its natural supply.

By that time, I think synthetic materials could replace gold for things like medicine and computer parts.

Too much science channel. I wouldn't let any of that influence your investment decisions.
