How often do you guys find silver in your roll searching? I just looked through $30 worth of dimes and didn't find a damned thing.:desk:

Well $30 isn't very much. Usually in a $250 box I find one or two.

Oh wow. I'm new to this. I've really just been buying bullion. How do you go about getting that many rolls of dimes? Order them through your bank?

Searching 2,500 dimes for 1-2 silver is a lot of work for a $1-2.00 profit.

It takes fifteen seconds or less to open up the roll and look at the side for silver. For fifty rolls that means what fifteen minutes or so? Then two more minutes to clean up for a total of - gulp - 17 minutes! If that seems like a lot to you, then that's fine, more for me.

I've never found squat searching dimes. You might try half dollars, but then they're not yielding much lately either.

I've had some luck with halves, but never tired anything else. Silver quarters and nickels tend to show up at my works cash register, so if you get a retail job it's a good way to find some silver

Back in 1971-73 I worked summers at a Boy Scout camp store. The kids would raid their Pops' coin collections before heading off to camp. Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, Walking Liberty halves...those were the days!

at work we get silver in rolls all the time. i just got 2 full rolls of silver dimes a few weeks ago. they ranged from the 40's-1960. about a year ago i came across 2 rolls of $10 silver halves. mostly franklins and some kennedys. usually find 1-2 random silver coins a week:thumb:

I don't 'roll search' for the occasional piece of silver...I take all of my pocket change, which right now is about $1000 worth...and look at every piece very carefully with my stereo microscope. In my first $2 worth I've already found some strange things that may be worth more than an occasional silver dime. Get a book and look for the things in pocket change which are worth money...it's certainly NOT silver.

I have one book titled 'Strike It Rich With Pocket Change' by Brian Allen and Ken Potter that I got at Barnes and Noble. I certainly haven't 'struck it rich', as I'm just starting to look through my $1000 pocket change, but, they tell you what to look for, show pics, and give approximate values. Gotta start somewhere...LOL

    don't bother with quarters.

it would probably take a few thousand dollars worth to find one.

You have a much greater chance with dimes :)
