three more days to go before the price might go up. based on last two days averages. it is over $900.00.

does anyone know... what happens to returned UHR's (as i have done) at the mint?
are they simply recycled into the production line, or are they examined for defects?
    thanks

UHR double eagle break the 60,000 mark to 60,366. remember the mint can sell this item even over the one year period.

i think the mint target the 100,000 pc. but i doubt it will go that far. maybe 65,000 to 70,000. they mint should call quit.

maybe the gold average price is within the border line. as of this writing. the mint did not increase the price yet. in fact. the gold products are only the spouses and the UHR double eagle. that's it.

My vote goes for calling it quits right now, get on minting the other W coins that everyone is waiting for. The Eagle and the Buffalo gold will probably be low mintage anyway, and on top of that, not everyone can afford one of each at the same time.
Should be a very interesting . . . rest of the year!

Received an email from the US Mint this morning. No more subscriptions for the Buffalo gold.

We are contacting you regarding your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin subscription order. Effective January 12, 2009, the United States Mint implemented a new policy for the pricing of gold and platinum coins. Under this policy, pricing may vary weekly dependent upon the London Bullion Market Association’s weekly average price for precious metals. Due to these pricing fluctuations, we can no longer set standard subscription prices for this product. As a result, the American Buffalo One Ounce Gold Proof Coin will no longer be offered under the online subscription program.
You will soon receive another communication confirming the cancellation of your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin subscription order. To ensure continuation of your American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin collection, you may purchase them through our online catalog or by telephone at 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468), when they become available for sale.
The on-sale date for the 2009 American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin has not yet been determined.

Recently I've taken to browsing the Canadian Mint's site since they actually have more than one bullion product available.

Come on, Mint, let's get with the program and put West Point in overdrive!
