which bullion coin you like most?. and why?.

other factors to be considered were the mintage, fineness (.9999 vs: .999), face value, sizes (diameter ranges from 37 mm to 45 mm), thickness (as thick as 4.0 mm), design (some changes every year), mint mark (like w mint mark), proof or uncirculated, popularity, easy to sell, free individual capsule, and cheaper.

In order of preference:

1. ASE
2. Libertad
3. Britannia

I was tempted to toss Maples in there as well but then it dawned on me, I don't even own a silver Maple so I must not think too highly of them.

Anyway, I could only vote once so I chose ASE.

What about WW2 nazi 5rm silver coin?

They are 90% silver, 12.5 grams of silver. My thinking is they're bullion, and they have historic value as well. The ones with swasticas go for more.

if you want to buy 500 or 600 pc in a monster box. just one type you are buying. which bullion silver coin you gonna buy it?. maybe everybody will said am eagle. for me. i will buy the 2009 british britannia.

 

My favorite is the ASE but I also really like the Chinese Pandas. The only problem with these as "bullion" in my eyes is they are so popularly collected they go for a premium well over their bullion value (especially the Pandas)...so I don't know if they are really "bullion" to me.

 

supply and demand. that is the answer. i like am eagle, british britannia and chinese panda. i hope the am buffalo silver bullion will come soon. it might replaces am eagle as number one.

 

Ofcourse everyone will pick the silver eagle. This is the US afterall. It would be unamerican not to but I think the best silver bullion coin to own is the Canadian Maple leaf.

 

to be honest. the british britannia is the best design but expensive. am eagle is the quickest way to sell it and the most popular one. the austrian philharmonic is the cheapest one to buy it. the canadian maple leaf is the highest in term of face value. the australian lunar series II is the largest diameter at 45mm. the chinese panda is most lovable with design changes each year. well. what about buy all of them.

 

by looking at it. just buy american eagle and you are safe.

that is true. beside the most collectors exist in this world are american. thus, american eagle fit in.

 

I was talking to a friend of mine about this thread and he suggested that I take up collecting the Austrian Philharmonic collection. First, there are just two years that make up the complete set so far and two, you can find them for less than the ASEs (usually less than $20). Now I am speaking blindly here, because I know nothing of these coins, just what my buddy told me, but it makes sense if it is all true.

 

no way jose. austrian philharmonic size or diameter is the smallest. but it is thicker. i don't like small. i even like the australian lunar series II. it is 45mm in diameter. the largest of all popular bullion silver coin.

 

Elaine, I remember briefly seeing the design, so I can't say if I will like it or not, but 1oz is 1oz, doesn't matter what the size it. I like those thick coins. The British have the Piedforts, the US has the UHR and now the Austrians. Seem neat to own.

 

actually.. try to own each of a kind. it is good. you got everything. so far i only got two. am eagle and lunar series II. in the future. i will buy one of each type. possibly start of a year. it will be cheaper. like year 2010.

why south africa not producing a yearly krugerand bullion silver one ounce coin. they were the first to issue such bullion gold coin.

 

I wasn't asking why it happens...I understand supply and demand. But, my point was these coins aren't really for "investing in silver" because you pay a premium for them over the silver value because they are so popular to collectors. But, I really love ASEs and Pandas.
