Bullion coins that i collect and like.

the british britannia, chinese panda, american eagle and the australian (perth mint) lunar series II were the silver bullion coins that i like and collect. among the gold. i like chinese panda, british souverign, american eagle, american buffalo and the three spouses 1/2 oz gold with liberty head on it.

A couple I like....as well as the ASE's of course

 

i just bought 2 canadian maple leaf (first time) , 30 australian (perth mint) lunar series II, year of the ox, 2 austrian philharmonic (first time) silver bullion one ounce dollar. the missing is the british britannia. because the price is high. double the other's offered.

 

I like that new Onza. I'll definitely have to pick up some of those.

 

what is the different between new onza and the previous mexican issue?.

i think it reached $500.00 at one point.

 

2008w 1/4 oz american eagle unc $10.00 gold coin with 9,200 mintage should go up its price to $1,500.00 by next year. check it out. the rarest of all american eagle gold families.

hold on to your 2008w 1/4 oz. american eagle unc gold coin. it will never again break that level. 9,200 pieces only. the rarest of all american eagles and buffaloes families. think about the 2009 american eagle one ounce uncirculated gold coin. only three months and a half. it sold 415,500 pieces. that's mean the mint can sell 1,424,572 pieces of one ounce gold for year 2009. in other words. the gold coin is very hot at anyplace in this planet.

 

Prior to 1996, the Onza Libertad was a smaller diameter but the same weight, 31.1 grams....this makes the earlier coins somewhat thicker. Also, if you look closely, the lady Winged Victory is facing directly at you on the earlier coin and looks more to "stage left" on the current coins. Both are .999 silver. Onzas (not Libertads) prior to 1991 are .925 silver.

i like british britannia, chinese panda, american eagle, and australian (perth mint) lunar series II. the rest of it. i really don't like them. like canadian maple leaf, mexican libertad, austrian philharmonic, and australian (perth mint) koala.

the really active traded are the american eagle, canadian maple leaf, mexican libertad and austrain philharmonic, australian koala and the chinese panda. the other two are the british britannia and australian lunar series. these two were of limited mintages.

 

Yeppers, I had a 2007W 1/2 oz and bought both the 1/2 and 1/4 oz in the 2008W - got them slabbed and they came back MS-70 . . . cha-ching.

As for collecting/hoarding bullion coins, I've got some AGE's and a year set of rolls of ASE's, but have been working on both gold and silver type set from around the world. For gold you have the modern bullion coins but there are also the fractional coins from the past 100-150 years that are very nice also. Even though it's bullion, from a collectors perspective, it makes for an interesting notebook.

As for silver, I've got the ASE's, a set of Leafs, starting sets of britannias, pandas, and onzas. Also starting a collection of silver crowns. So again, going with the modern world sets of bullion silver, but also the older stuff - the crowns. The crowns bring into play all the reasons why I collect coins - beauty, history, story, value, etc.

For example, I've got a pillar dollar from 1752 that's a history lesson in and of itself for my grandkids.
