Have they quit selling the UHR?

A friend of mine finally decided that he wanted one of the UHRs and ordered it Monday. This morning he got this email:

"Greetings from the United States Mint.
The following order has been cancelled either at your
request or because we were unable to process it. We invite you to resubmit the order via our website at
    http://www.usmint.gov
    and click on Product Catalog."

Perhaps they are done selling them???
I don't know. I do know I'm ready for them to start putting out some of the items they have been slacking on, such as the gold eagles, silver eagles, buffalo gold, etc.

    Has anybody heard anything?

maybe it is the credit card problem or change of address. maybe some other problems.

I am thinking along the same lines as elaine on this one. Sounds like some glitch with his order or with the "trusty" Mint website functionality.

I just added 1 to cart and it said on b/o expected to ship 6-24.
I don't know if I would get 1 from the Mint right now....might get somebodies rejects. I would buy a graded 69 off Ebay for a little over cost and get it now instead of 2017.....:kewl:

Mines on the far right.....sold the other two.

Elaine-Argento, I told him he better check his card to make sure it doesn't expire in the next few months. I don't think he knew about the CC thing.

Congrats Chief, those are awesome! How did you get three? I would have ordered another one, but was afraid they wouldn't let me order another.

I guess I'll give up what State I'm from...

for investors. you should have use UHR double eagle money to buy lincoln cent roll. a box of 2,500 cent value at $25.00. now cost almost $400.00.

I'm hoping to pick a few UHR when the new wears off and the price slacks up on them. I should have done like Chief and had my brother and a few friends get me a few at $1189.

Lincolns & Copper.... I've called a dozen banks around OKC, and none of them have even seen the new Lincoln cent. I bank at 2 different banks, and several tellers are keeping a lookout for me, but none have surfaced.

Also for the past year I have kept an eye on the bullion copper on eBay and a couple of other sites. I have picked up several large bars and large blocks of pure copper for almost nothing. The first time it happened to me, I didn't think the seller would ship it, but he told me it happens every once in a while, and he just deals with it, then again sometimes he will sell one for a few hundred dollars. He told me if he puts a reserve on it, then people don't like to bid on it, but get some bidding competition going and usually makes good money.

I wonder if there will even be a PCGS MS70 "Cabin" Cent.

Perhaps when they release their collector series?

WARNING - YOU MIGHT LOSE YOUR ORDER!!!

I had set up my order to go to a card that had plenty of available limit. Well, my helpful CC company decided that since I had so much available (and for their own reasons) they would lower my limit.

Well, the US Mint just happened to try to charge my order right after this happened so I couldn't get it switched to another card... and I got a "canceled order" email.

I tried to call the mint, but they actually had a message saying "we cannot take your phone call at this time"!

Anyway, a couple days later I was able to speak to a call center staff member. Here is what I learned...

    1. They try to run the payment twice, BUT they do not send an email after the first failure, so running it twice is basically useless if there is a problem you don't know about.

    2. The call center has been INUNDATED with the same problem from other people... including other dealers.

    3. Once the order is canceled... it is lost. You have to reorder at the current price. They maintain a "if its not our fault, its not our problem" (my words, not theirs) policy... understandable, but you could also argue they should email after the first failure!?

    4. You can order with a Pre-Paid debit card to remove the risk of this happening, but the card MUST be associated with your US Mint billing address or, guess what, you may lose the order. :)

    Anyway, what a pain.

This is a common theme right now with credit companies, so be aware... if you have anything against you on your credit history OR your credit card company is in its own trouble overlending... this could happen to you.

At the very least you could get a Pre-Paid debit card and just not fund it until and unless you see that this has happened to your CC account. Now, getting the Pre-Paid debit card takes about 10 days where I am, so the sooner you act... the better.

IF you do need to switch your payment to another card (pre-paid or otherwise), you MUST call the US Mint and change it for that order... doing it through the online interface doesn't get it done for past orders.

Okay, I really hope that helps someone. :)

    Thanks,
    Michael

Thanks for the heads up! Probably an excellent post for all to read. It hasn't happened to me yet, but several friends told me their CC company lowered their limit for no reason, and they have no bad marks against their credit. The CC companies are lowering almost everyone's limit because of the economy thing. I thought about this a few days ago. I have had several mint orders in the last month, so I got online and paid off my card with online billpay before I even got my bill in the mail.

    Thanks again!!!
