For those pics I used a Nikon D200 with a Sigma Macro lens. Also, it was shot using indirect daylight.

    Hello Charlie,

Take a look at post 442. The line that disects the rim does not appear. What is the condition on your coin?

Res, mine is post #423. I took one rim shot, but you can just barely see it. I didn't take mine out of the capsule, and now it's already in the safety deposit box. I'll have to check next time I go to the bank.

Ours has the line as well. Going to send it in to TPG soon and will look then.

Yours is probably a better camera than mine, and probably a 10.2 MP to boot. That's a pretty high $$$ camera.
Maybe next time I bring it home from the bank I'll try the indirect sunlight. That should make a big difference.
I do want to have some better pics of mine.

Any continuation of UH double eagle planned for 2010, etc.?

Is there any indication that the US Mint will issue the Ultra High double eagle for 2010 and beyond? If not would it take a new act of Congress to authorize such an endeavor?

The last I heard was that they were going to produce a 2010 in Palladium, but I have not heard anything recently.

I want one of these quite a bit.

But my 3 dream coins at the moment are...

    A Silver Morgan that's DMPL
    $10 gold Indian Head that's AU48+
and a Texas Half in MS.

I could get all 3 for the price of one of these UHRs.

    Something to think about.

I'm in the USA again this summer...and Will not leave without a Texas Half.

That's something to think about before you buy one of these on impulse.

However to my non-coin collecting friends they will say the same sort of thing regardless of what coin I'm planning to buy and apply it to other things.

'Why spend so much money on coins, when you could buy food and clothes?!'

    P.S
It's nice to finally see pics of this coin.
I too would waste no time taking it out of its capsule to have a good look at it.

Newbie to Grading question. If my UHR is still sealed in the original Mint shipped box, can I still get the FS designation if they receive it after 3-11-09? Thanks for any responses.

I don't think this is the same design that St Gauden created. I see more than a few differences.

I know that they added stars for all 50 states, added In God We Trust and added a slight rim for stackability.

What other differences do you see?

The statue itself is less sultry.

I think that was one of the major "beefs" against the original high relief....you couldn't stack them. Aside, of course, from the fact that they were difficult to produce in great quantity.

Well actually there is but thanks for the left handed insult. Factually speaking, the new coin is more prudish than the original design.
