Hey guys just wanted to share some cool international silver bullion coins I’ve collected over the years. I just found them in my safe after several years and sadly some of them have bits of black toning. My favorite are the 1985 Mexican Libertad, 2015 Year of the Goat, 2015 Chinese Panda, 2016 Somalian Elephant and 2015 Niue Island Turtle.
You should flatten the points on those staples with pliers. They can scratch another coin (even through the mylar window).
Good idea! I actually just put them in the 2x2s about an hour ago. Before that they were in APMEX plastic flips and those obviously suck based on the black toning on the coins in those flips. Can you believe I bought all of them on APMEX for under $20? Now the melt alone is worth more than that. Then again back in 2016 silver was $15-$16 an oz so it was overpriced back then.
I sold all of my junk silver when the price was about $45, and I only paid face value for it from bank orders. By the way, if you plan on using a lot of the 2x2's, you can get a flat-cinch stapler at any of the office supply stores, either locally or online. They don't cost that much, and they take standard staples.
I also have the (2018) Vienna Philharmonic. I see you had as much trouble getting it into a 2X2 as I did because it's so thick. That and my 2020 Serbian Nikola Tesla coin are my favorites. I admire Mr. Tesla a lot and I'm also a musician, so those two were natural "must haves" for me.
You should see the Libertad! Holy smokes that coin is THICK! What’s weird is the way all of them are 1oz .999 fine yet some of them fit in half dollar flips and others require full dollar flips.
Nice! I use mine as a sort of hedge with most of my money being in the stock market. No worries about the staples though. I have a bunch of capsules coming in which should be much better.
Be careful with the ones made by the Chinese government. The gold/silver pandas and stuff. From what I’ve read they are often found to be underweight.
The U.S.S. Enterprise and the Santa Fe medal (below) were produced by Medallic Art Company (MACO). Both are 63.5mm and weigh 4.55ozs in .999+ Fine Silver. Reverse of the U.S.S. Enterprise (Not shown above)
