I'm not an epidimeologist (sp.) but vaccines effectiveness in the past ranged from 50% (flue) to 97% (polio) with many in-between.

95% effectiveness could accelerate herd immunity and effectively eliminate it except for an occasional stray case.

Again, I'm not an expert here but 95% effectivness covers some non-compliance.

Did you make a typo with your 2021 pronouncement? The Governor here in Louisiana is projecting that all of our citizens who want the vaccine shall have it long before the end of the coming spring. He stated in his televised message yesterday that medical personnel and law enforcement might even have the vaccine within the next six weeks.

I agree it would sir. I am not an epidemiologist either, but fron what I read it would to the extent I lowered the threshold to 85%. With polio, they wanted 100% because of the lower effectiveness, and with others they want 95% due to them only being 80-90% effective. I lowered the threshold to 85% due to high effectiveness.

If we get 65% compliance, this disease will stick around and continue to kill thousands of elderly every year. If we all get the shot, it will die out and we can move on with our lives.

If we ALL get the shot is the only 100% guaranty that will not happen. Guaranteed!

That is your option. I will gladly take it. Had there been a polio vaccine in 1950, I would have been spared much difficulty in life.

Plenty of experts themselves, doctors, virologists, epidemiologists that say there are too many unknown side effects to expose themselves to to be in at least the first round of vaccinations. That unsurety is reason enough for me.

Sometime down the road? Who knows? I can't speak out that far at this time.

I would like to see one reputable member of obe of those professions who advocate not taking it after reviewing the applicable data. Any of them saying this today are shysters or idiots, since the data they need to see to have an informed opinion has not yet been published. Just like any school, half of them graduated at the bottom of their class, and its easy to find one to say something outlandish to let himself feel important.

Immunization is about everyone, not just yourself. Sure, every year a few kids have very bad reactions, but as a whole society we are way better of innoculated. I think we are at the point where almost everyone is too young to remember the bad old days before immunizations.......

There are going to be TENS OF THOUSANDS of tests by the time you get it.

If there is a material negative effect -- death, sickness, severe side effects -- it will show early.

When Torcetracib (Pfizer's next-gen cholesterol drug) caused a few deaths in the control group, the drug was yanked.

mRNA drugs would appear to have LESS chance of ANY or even MINOR side-effects than the traditional method of developing vaccines.

I suspect it will take 3 years or maybe never, before even 50% of the US will be vaccinated with both shots , and the remainders will be the "Typhoid Mary " carriers that keeps the 'hot states' ready for another round. And the flu shot also seems to be about 45% effective according to the CDC. But I hope for the best. Jim

Yeah, I didn't get my flu shot yet as I don't really go anywhere so I'm not in any hurry. Gold hit $1800 for a spell, I wonder how many bought on the dip? :D

I think you mean by the end of 2020. We may not see the vaccine until 2021.

All three vaccines announced so far are two-dose regimens. Johnson and Johnson has a single-dose candidate, but even there, they're running two-dose study legs to see whether that's more effective than a single dose.

Everybody would obviously love a single-dose vaccine, but we aren't there yet.

I was referring more to efficacy and how I am not very trustworthy of how they came up with new regimen. I prefer theory to predict outcome and confirm. I am always leery of backfitting theory from random observations.

First of all, the vaccine should be ready and deliverable to "first responders" and others by mid December if the FDA doesn't play politics. That said, the price of Gold rose and has fluctuated this year ONLY partly due to Covid-19. The main reason Gold rose and has recently fallen is due to the election as many were frightened by a Biden win and the economy sinking like a submarine with an open hatch.

Although Biden may become the next President (barring legal challenges due to errors, irregularities and possible computer glitches), the thought of a "split" government (Democrat President & Congress with a Republican Senate), many are more secure in the fact Biden will not be able to harm the economy as he has publicly stated therefore, safe-guarding your wealth or retirement accounts or investments in general is NOT necessary.

In my opinion, Gold has a safe haven reputation yet, as some purchase on the way up or near the top as in 2009, they also lost a lot when it lowered and set around $1200 or so. To that end, I recommend 10% in Gold but, keep alert as when it begins a descend from its highs, the equity market will rise as seen in past days (Dow 30,000)! Be ready for a ride this coming year as the markets will make many rich and others poor depending on how you react to alerts. Good luck and be careful.
