Well frankly LOTR helped me through severe depression when I had suicide on my mind so it really is something meaningful in my life.

Kind of like how some people get tattoos to remind them of things very important to themselves. However I’m not interested in marking my skin so I wanted to do something different.

The ring you linked is only 14K and I am looking for 22K.

Got it.. Ok. Hopefully you will achieve your goal and it will be something very special for you.

I've gotten 9 tattoos for different situations in life.
    I fully understand.

    Peace my friend :angelic:

Most wedding rings are expected to be worn constantly and "forever" so 16k -18kt is usually considered the max due to (1) Worn constantly, dinged, fingers may get thicker and scratched within a couple of years, Men's rings, I prefer 10-12K as men ( and some women) may be using tools or carrying bricks, or steel products like a knife or sword, and deep nicks and scratches are not easily removed. I understand that. Alloys of copper/silver with gold are far more durable than gold alone.

However I’m looking for a ring that is more of a showpiece than something I will wear daily so a 22K ring with the rest being silver would work perfectly.

Afterall the American Gold Eagle is 22K and I couldn’t bend one of those if I tried.

I looked into that ring after we found one in a storage locker.
    Ton of copies.
This one is said to be closest to the real thing.

In my opinion, you can buy a quality copy for $100 (That's what we figured the one we found was) it was pretty close, well made and hefty in weight.
22k is a bit soft even for a ring worn occasionally.
Good luck, I like the look and the feel of the one we had and was good enough to pass for the real thing (a serious gamer would call BS if you couldn't get it to work anyway):D

Damn..$4500? That’s like 2.25 oz of pure gold! I was hoping someone could make one cheaper by just using my gold and crafting it into a ring. It wouldn’t even be 1oz of gold.

Can you craft it from your bullion? If no, then that's the reasoning behind the pricing. They have a skill, craft, talent that you pay for.

Well no I can’t. But I’m just saying that seems a bit expensive for the crafting itself.

If we put it into terms of pay per hour and assume there is about $1500 in precious metals that’s $3,000 for crafting.

Even if it takes them 20 hours to make its still $150/hour. That’s twice as much as a nurse makes or triple the pay of a teacher. Both of whom also have skills and require college degrees.

I’m just saying in my personal opinion it’s a bit expensive for what I would get.

That's why we have a free market economy.
They have a product you want. They set the price. You either like the deal and proceed to purchase or move on to another transaction. Nobody is forcing you to make that transaction happen. Your rationalization equating their craftsmanship to a nurse or teacher is only valid in your transaction. Someone else might think different and make the purchase.

I know that. I’m not saying they’re charging too much or that they’re over priced or anything like that.

I was simply stating my own personal opinion that the cost is a bit steep for the ring. Again, my personal opinion. To someone else it may be a great deal. We’re lucky to live in a country where everyone has the right to speak their mind and share their personal opinions. :)
