Lately I have been looking at and posting about these Lincolns. I made a offer alot lower than the asking price and won very quick. Looking at the pics I am seeing signs of cleaning. Since I won the bid on ebay i'm pretty much locked in to buying. The coin is in the plastic holder in the pic's so maby it's hiding something or just for protection. I will say the coin has some strong wheat lines but the obverse front wording is iffy. Any ideas?
Yes that and if the value is down alot or a little. Being its a wanted date and a old cleaning maby it still has decent value?
A new one that I committed to buy on ebay. I gave a offer on what I think was on the low side and the seller took it. I looked at the coin alot better later and to what I thought was signs of cleaning.
Here are the MM positions for the 14D. Thanks to @justafarmer I would check rotation and placement before buying one raw for cheap on the internet. Read this thread. justafarmer maps out all 6 on page 2.
@Pickin and Grinin, I'm not seeing the MM positions, and really interested is a link missing or something?
Yes, I did forget the link PG 2. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/authentic-vs-counterfeit-1914-d-lincoln.76229/
Justafarmer has mapped many a coin for us here at CT. Look up his posts and you will also find the 1909 S, and many many more.
Received the coin, Yup, it is retoned, more on the Lincoln's bust. It's nice and on the reddish side but not overly toned. I'm not much for toned coins but this one is nice. Sure looks like the cleaning was done years ago?? but who knows.
