How obvious is the doubling on the date? Do you need magnification to see it, or is it really obvious?
A 1955 doubled die if you came across one in circulation you would be able to see it with the naked eye that is the king of the doubled die varieties. I don't think you would ever come across them now it would be a very rare occasion Jazzcoins JOE
1955............................ take a look. http://www.coinfacts.com/small_cents/lincoln_cents/wheat_ear_cents/1955_cent_doubled_die.htm
There is the big one that is easily visible with the naked eye, and I belive there are a couple of lesser ones (True doubled dies, not the poormans) that you will probably need magnification to see.
It is one you will not forget! Just give the real one a good look and you will never forget it - it is massive!! There are several lessor known DDO and DDR's in 1955-P, D, S, also but you will need a loup to see - Some people refere to the 1955-P "poor mans doubled die" as a lessor doublED die but it is not a doublED die at all - when people say that they are not correct - because it is just a worn out over polished die.
