Elaine, I am just curious, and I am sure I probably asked you before, but where do you get these mintage figures?

 

Numismatic News releases weekly mintage numbers. They are a few weeks dated, but are usually correct. I don't know if Elaine gets her numbers from there, but this is where I get mine and they are the same as Elane's.

 

as expected. all american eagle gold, platinum and american buffalo gold were not available from the mint. the new price will take effect tomorrow. will the mint sell it again at new prices?. let's see.

 

8-8-08 prosperity set look like better than 2009 high relief double eagle:

price wise - $1,125.00 vs: $1,189.00. prosperity is cheaper.
box - prosperity is better look.
mintage - prosperity is very low. double eagle might pass 50,000.
price hike - prosperity have buffalo already fly high.

 

Elaine... I have seen some references to the "08 buffalo 4 coin set as being burnished. Do you have any information on that?

my opinion is that 2008 and maybe 2009 will be the best years to purchase most of the u.s. mint products. because of the economic and financial crisis on this planet. and it is happened once maybe every one hundred years period. so much so that the coins sold by the mint were so minimal and limited as compared to previous years. that means most of the mint's products and its mintages were very few and might considered rare in the future. sample will be the 2008 clad proof set and 2008 5 pc quarters clad proof set.

 

buy a prosperity set. so you can have both buffalo and eagle. and also a nice box with it. hurry. very soon will be sell out.

 

regular issues of american eagle one ounce proof gold prices are much better than american buffalo proof. except the 2008w.
