I bought a bulk lot of 71 unidentified coins, mostly from Italian states from the 1600 to
1700s (This thread in world coins). Most are copper and a few might be billon. This one
looks like it might be a little older than the others--the style looks Medieval to me.

I see a central cross with dots in between the arms and a ring of dots circling it.
    17 mm diameter, 0.74 grams

Any suggestions as to what country it might be from or what might be a good way
to start trying to identify it? It's a bit worn to tell much, but I'd love to satisfy my
curiosity. Cost of the whole lot came out to about 70 cents per coin, so I don't
have much to lose! Thanks for any suggestions.

I have no clue what it is, but the lettering looks like 16th-17th century Roman capitals.

This Venetian sesino seems very similar to me.
There's text around the perimeter of mine on both sides, but I
can't make it out. Other side has something inside a circle.

Based on the rest of the lot (Italian, Swiss and Austrian coins seen so far), it's
most likely from Italy or somewhere nearby.

The combination of dots and cross on the obverse is unusual enough to make it look like you nailed it --if not the exact denomination, certainly the type or one very similar.
