Does anyone collect bullion sets? I do ASE, Pandas, Elephant, Maple Leafs and Britannias as year sets. I just finished The Queen's Beast set. I also have the complete Route 66 and Amy Brown series. I find it makes stacking more interesting, or maybe I'm just compulsive that way.
Most of the national sets are spot plus a premium with the Pandas having the highest. ASE usually sell for $4-$6 over spot and my dealer will pay $2-$4 over spot on buy back if I go to sell. Even generic bullion runs about $2-$2.50 over spot now.
I’m up to 2019 on the ASEs, sort of. I have/had 2 complete sets from which I give an older coin to my 2 nephews for Christmas, one from each nephew’s designated set, and I give a current year for their birthday. For myself, I have most years, but again, not the 2020.
I have a bunch of Pandas (including a fake 2013) and only 9 out of the 10 Queen's Beasts. I'm still saving for the Greyhound, cause it's like double the price of the others (due to the price of silver)! LOL. I only paid less than or just over $40 for each of all the previous ones. Had fun putting them in Lighthouse Slabs and labelling each one. They're all in a second-hand Mercury Dime case.
I am up-to-date on ASE's. Plus I have a lot of surplus. I think this will be my last year of getting silver from the US Mint. Plus I have all this ASE stuff.
I did a set uncirculated and proof ASE 1986-2020 with all but the 1995-W. I gave the to my daughter after I had my bypass, she'll get the 2020-S proof next week.
The only bullion silver I have is a complete set of Silver Eagles in the Dansco book. I started the set as a 'lark' when silver eagles were selling for 8- $10 each. The Weinman design is rather nice enlarged but I probably would not have collected the SE's if one of the later 'clunky' designs had been used... Yeah, I sez CLUNKY & Butt-Ugly! J.T.
I like your presentation case. Right now, all my coins are in coin boxes I bought on the internet/AMOS. I didn't start collecting ASE's until I got my father's collection. He had 3 Raw 1988 ASE's that he put in slabs. I started with the 2008 ASE's. I don't have the 2009 Proof for obvious reason. I started with the 2009 Silver 6-Piece Quarter Set and the 2009S Silver 18-Piece Set, both kept up to 2020. I really like the Presidential Silver Medals which started with President Washington to Andrew Jackson. I know these are going to empty my pockets, but what else am I going to do with my wife's inheritance?
