Study your Redbook..... And then look up The Moonlight Mint. Old Zoid is working you like a ten pound largemouth bass....
They're real alright . . . . . Hard to find at a "decent" price. I got that one from @Chiefbullsit just last week. It arrived yesterday. Here is a link or two to help you in your research . . . . . http://www.moonlightmint.com/ http://www.dc-coin.com/ http://www.moonlightmint.com/blog_1.htm "Spicy enough for ya . . . . . . ?" Z
No, they are not counterfeits. Here is another thread for your research. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-dan-carr-tokens-here-and-nowhere-else.288984/page-80 They are real US Peace Dollars, not counterfeit. They have been "modified" much like hobo nickels are modified. I consider them works of art, personally. Z
No sir. That is not what he does at all. He is an accomplished engraver and takes actual common date coins and over strikes them with "fantasy" dates and mint marks.
And you thought the site was "boring" today . . . . . . LOL You NEVER know what's lurking just below the surface . . . . . . Z
Actually, I am quite jealous of Zoid's 1964 Peace dollar. I have long wanted one for just exactly the same reason that Zoid used his in your thread. I would like to have one when I am at lunch with my coin buddies just as a teaser/conversation starter sort of thing.
Zoid has "coined" a saying . . . . . "It don't take "all kinds," we've just GOT all kinds . . . . . . " Z
There were 1964 Peace dollars struck. They were almost immediately melted and never released. Nobody outside the US mint ever saw a true 1964 Peace dollar. They never got outside the mint.
I need to finish my "Glamour Shots" and get that one posted up in the DC thread . . . . . Z Link (again) for 666 . . . . . https://www.cointalk.com/threads/post-your-dan-carr-tokens-here-and-nowhere-else.288984/page-80
