Does anyone know who produced these, when, and do they have any "collectability factor" to them? The are marked on the rim, 5 T.O. - .999 SILVER and there is a serial number as well. Thanks. Z
I believe it's a private mint replica. They usually trade for around bullion but some might pay a premium for the novelty. A thread on CU: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1012717/5-ounce-silver-octagonal-proof-panama-pacific-medal I see these two ebay sales at 117.50 and $250 (best offer accepted). https://www.ebay.com/itm/PANAMA-PAC...575165?hash=item445decc8fd:g:8GQAAOSwdD5e~JWj https://www.ebay.com/itm/1915-PAN-P...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
In the first link you posted, one individual suggested that it might have been made by APMEX. When doing some searches a few days ago, that is the only site that came up in the searches, but it listed it as "out of stock." I couldn't be sure if they MADE it or were just selling it. Now I need to find a single 65mm plastic capsule for this one. The original plastic capsule got cracked some time in the past. I'll check out the eBay links when I get home. They firewall block eBay here at the office. Z
I saw that comment too about Apmex. They were selling it, but I couldn't find if they made it or if it was commissioned by someone else.
