My son has a buddy that buys unpaid storage units. They found a bag full of old change in a unit they purchased this morning. Roughly $20.00-$25.00 face value. I threw out a number of $250.00 for them. They were tickled with that and I am supposed to have a bag of old silver delivered tonight.
I will. My son is running interference for me. They are in his car and won't make it to my house till late tonight so I won't get to peruse the booty until after work tomorrow.
You only paid ten times Face? Have you no shame? Lol Sounds like a great deal for both of you. Enjoy your after work fun tomorrow.
One more update photo from my son. Seems there are some buffalo nickels and wheat cents gravy in the mix as well.
And make sure your son put in a good word for you so you can score the next lot...dont forget to mention you like gold too.
Well crud. It wasn't the haul I expected. Talk about a rookie mistake. I failed to take into account 40% silver halves which the bulk of the haul was. 33 Halves @ 40%...... $4.00 7 Halves @ 90%.......$10.00 5 Quarters @ 90%....$5.00 28 Roosevelt 90% Dimes...$2.00 11 Mercury 90% Dimes.....$2.00 Two no-date buffalo's and three war cents. I figure I still came out ahead. Rough math tells me the silver is about $305.00....Certainly not a windfall though.
If you don't mind the new guy inquiring, what would be a decent selling value for a 40% Kennedy half these days? I've got a couple rolls of them I would like to rehome. Z
