Coin Shortage Slap in the Face

I wrote about my local Safeway needing coins (https://www.cointalk.com/threads/more-news-on-coin-shortage.364113/#post-46751050) awhile back and yesterday, I finally made a trip to town and took almost $100 worth of rolled coins, 1¢, 5¢, 25¢, to them. Being a Saturday, the assistance manager that asked me to bring in my coins, rolled or not, was not there. I explained to the girl at the customer service counter that I had been asked to bring in my coins as I was told they were hurting for them.
I was told, "No. We can't accept rolled coins." I insisted I was doing this as a favor to them due to the coin shortage. I had her call her supervisor over and was told the same thing. They then had a "private" conversation that I could easily overhear. She told the clerk to tell me to bring them back on Monday. I immediately said, "That ain't gonna happen." and explained once more that I was asked to bring coins in and if I left with them, they would never see them again.
They called the assistant store manager (not much older than my underwear) over and I again had to explain the situation. He told the girls to run the coins through the coin machine and pay me for them. Hell, why did I waste my time and paper rolls to count and roll them?
Anyway, they paid me $99.00 and I went shopping.
Talk about a slap in the face. Never again will I do them a "favor" like this.
    Anyone else have similar experiences?

Histman Too Many Coins, Not Enough Time!

Not a similar story, but my current supply bank has been unable to get very many coins from Garda. They are getting about one box a week. I have a box of quarters that the manager at the bank lets me exchange for the one brought in from Garda, and then the next week I do the same thing. That way I get to go through them. However, two weeks ago they didn't get any quarters, this week they didn't get any quarters, and she called to tell me that they have been ordering them but Garda isn't bringing them. They are concerned about the shortage. I happened to mention that thanks to them, I have about $1,200.00 in quarters, dimes, nickels, and cents and that they are welcome to them. She was very grateful and excited for me to bring them in. Works out since they are my coin supplier in the first place and get me whatever I want. Time to return the favor until things are somewhat back to normal. Now -- to respond to your post, let's hope I don't get in there with them Monday and they act like they don't know what I'm talking about? There is only five of them so it shouldn't be a concern. :)

Sorry you had a problem but in my area no such problems. No signs on businesses and it's as close to normal as possible. Again, there is no shortage of coins, just a supply problem with them.

I am wondering where the break/breaks in the supply chain are occurring. Is the Mint not delivering on a timely basis to the Federal Reserve Banks? Are the Federal Reserve Banks not supplying the rollers like Loomis, N.F. String? Are Brinks and other carriers not making regular stops to banks to deliver and retrieve? Has anyone seen an article anywhere that address's this?

This is a new thing, and second-string first-line managers tend to have trouble handling new things. I'm sorry you had to deal with folks who didn't know what to do.

Thanks. It happens. I'll get over it, but wished the same management would have been on duty when I took all of that in. Oh well, life moves on.

When something like this happens I get the name of the person. Then I call to make sure that person is going to be there when I go back.

I think things should be rounded to the nearest dollar. It’s not 1934 anymore lol. At shows I don’t price anything less than a dollar. In one job as an MBA cost analyst for a major chem co all our reports were in k dollars.
