For selling junk silver how much of a premium would you say for Walker halves vs Franlkins vs Kennedies? Are Mercury dimes worth more than Roosevelts? Apmex seems to think so.
At the moment, a roll or bag of average circulated Franklins is cheaper there than a roll or bag of 1964 halves; Walkers are more expensive than either. In the current climate, this isn't surprising; an "average" Franklin is a lot more worn than an "average" Kennedy, so it will weigh a bit less, and therefore represent less silver. Barbers are still more expensive, even though they've mostly lost significant weight to circulation.
I agree. Bullion buyers seem to love 1964 Kennedy's since almost none circulated. I HATE THEM. Hate is probably too nice of a word for how I feel about them. I find them about the worst coin our country has ever struck, yet I own thousands in the pile. I try to never open those rolls whenever I peruse my silver stash.
They don't bug me as much as some other designs, but, yeah, give me Liberty. On the other hand, they are reliable for still bearing full silver weight, and they pack pretty densely. So there's that.
I will grant that I MAY be biased since I am like a 14th cousin of Ben Franklin and didn't appreciate him kicked off the coin. Some say I have the same good looks as portrayed on the half dollar, not sure how to take that.
