Do you recall what the Mint sold them for?

Actully $395 doesn't seem TOOOOO outlandish for the PR70's judging by whats on eBay right now. Still a better deal can be found.

ungraded ones are selling between $200 and $250. PR70 graded can be had around $300 if you are patient and watch the auctions. MOST BIN listings are $350 to 450.

They were quite hot. I suppose a year later, demand has dampened.

The issue price was $229.95 if I recall correctly.

    Edit: Just noticed @Beardigger's post.

Thanks. I guess, like anything else, demand wanes as the fever eventually dies down. I don't have stats but it seems that many issues from the mint actually depreciate in value over time.

That's because the Mint charges too much to begin with!

I bought anything from the mint referencing Apollo 11. I even got one Apollo 11 silver collar coin from the Canadian Mint. I got the 5 oz Apollo 11 coin, and 2 1 ounce, one I gave to my son.
I saw "Magic" Mike selling the 5 ounce for about $395, MS70. I never send off anything to be graded. I'll buy a graded coin if it's that important. I sent in the 2008 (MMIX) Ultra High Relief Gold Coin and it came back MS68.

I think the slab counts -- some look REALLY NICE with moon logos on the edges and a nice label.

The mintage on the Apollo puck was 68,301 and it sold old last year. I'm currently valuing it at $250 based on eBay sold auctions. Here is mine.

I assume that's in the Mint's protective cover. If it isn't, do you plan on having it graded. I always worry about sending something into be graded. The coin dealers buy a whole bunch and then send them in. I don't know if they "cherrypick" the ones they buy and only send them in or do they send them all in at the same time?

I think they send them all in because they get a special rate.

if you’re talking about the big dealers they send in a couple hundred or even thousands at once and just set a minimum grade we’re the rest are returned raw. A lot of times the raw ones can be grading rejects though not always as they don’t always send everything in. On the big submissions like that it’s not worth the time and effort to go through them. Smaller/small dealers with small submissions will of course cherry pick what to send.

as long as it’s 100 coins or more yea they get the bulk rate

Thanks. I've only sent in two coins, a 1904 Double Eagle Liberty and an 1895 Eagle Liberty. It was my first entrance buying gold coins and into the world of grading coins. The 1904 came back UNC DETAILS: Obverse Scratched and the 1895 was given a MS 61. I'm not an expert at grading coins, by no means, but I now look at the coins closely before I decide to buy them. I have bought a few gold coins from the Mint and a graded coin from ebay. I have no complaints about either purchase.
