If I decide I want a coin I just stop buying everything and save my money. Eventually I can afford to buy that coin.
There's not just one. How about a draped bust dollar in at least VF? I think I need another 1872 S seated dollar. They are quite affordable considering the 9000 mintage. I sold the one I had because it had problems that bugged me. There are lots of thalers and other world stuff that I could mention.... Oh yeah, the 1815 half is a hole in my CBH lineup.....
There are more coins that I probably could afford, but don't want to. Here's one example: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/c...ins.asp?param=95868q00.jpg&vpar=18&zpg=109285 The other coin that irks me is an 1875-CC Quarter. The 1875-CC 20-cent piece and the quarter had about the same mintages, but the quarter is considerably more expensive in EF and up.
The “likely never afford “ is a 1838 O half the single one with CAM would be perfect In the really hope to afford one day a good quality William and Mary Crown
Lol, we all do that. I would never want to know how many typos I have typed here on CT. I wasn't trying to be "smart" or call you out on it, just didn't want newbies confused. At least this ancient collector proved he still knows a couple of things about US coins.
Sheridan D. currently has one for sale... but it’s only an R2, that’s why I am not really interested ;-)
I think right now the top of my want list is a au original skin 78-cc trade dollar. A chain cent with decent surfaces isn’t far behind
MS63 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter. And as long as I'm dreaming, the 3 shekel Carthaginian 45mm hockey puck
There are many but I'll pick the 1864 2 Cent Piece with the small motto. Its one of the last 2 coins I need to complete my set.
Not so much because it is cleaned as it is more than I am interested in spending. Thanks for the heads up though. There was another one too that was only graded as being genuine.
A 1945 Philadelphia mint Mercury dime graded by PCGS with a FB (full bands) designation. Any MS grade.
One of those gold coins out of that barrel of gold coins that couple found on their property while walking their dog a few years back, known as the Saddle Ridge Hoard. Just one...any one of them, that's all I would need. BTW - It's a big mystery how those coins got there. I'm sure we'd get our answer if Sarah Winchester was still alive.
