I just got a 1 oz silvertowne bar in and after watching so many videos on fake silver bars in all sizes I always check them out if I get a new one. This one is designed somewhat like a $1 bill with one in circles in all 4 corners and has mottled finish background in the middle behind the logo. Frosted around the edge. I believe it is real silver by my tests, but it weighs in at 1.1 oz on a very accurate scale. Would they put out a bar that is a full 1/10th of an ounce heavy? Is this common?
Are you measuring in troy ounces (used for precious metals), or avoirdupois ounces ("normal" ounces, used for everything else)? A troy ounce is 31.1 grams, while an avoirdupois ounce is 28.35 grams, so a 1 Troy Ounce bar would show as (31.1/28.35) or 1.1 ounces on an avoirdupois scale.
Ooook. Neeever mind! Nothing to see here.... It weighs 1.006 troy oz. If anyone needs me I'll be sitting over in the corner with my dunce cap on.
Mine came about mentioning that 1794 two pence coin weighed 62.2 g (2 ounces) and someone pointed out that copper coins are weighed by the Av. ounce and it weighed 56.7 g .....duh.
