When I saw this one on Vcoins I did not hesitate. As Ephesian denarii of Vespasian go this one is not a rare one. However, when I saw that the seller wanted 30.00 including shipping I grabbed it. Now it is true that the reverse has a problem-a gouge at the top. However, I love this reverse type. I consider it to be one of the elegant Ephesian reverses for Vespasian. But of course the reason I bought it was the portrait. These portraits are imho some of the best portraits issued under Vespasian. Vespasian 69-70 CE AR Denarius Ephesus (18mm 3.15g) Obv: Laureate head right; IMP CAES VESPAS AVG Rev: AVG and symbol in Oak wreath RIC 1399 Purchased from Musa Numismatics June 24, 2020
Looks like someone was cutting it for change, then got something else, making the purchase a full denarius! LOL, is your birthday in AVGvst? Fine coin! I would have gotten that one if I saw.
Nice find, especially for the price. Nice portrait. Throw this in for good measure. Vespasian (69 - 79 A.D.) AR Denarius O: IMP CAES VESP AVG P M COS IIII, Laureate head right.
