Between 311-313AD a pair of new mint marks were added to the coinage, PLN in exergue with a * first in the right field (311-312) and then in the left (312-313). During this time, the variety of reverse types increased significantly and there were some unusual legends introduced as well. Two of these legends, featuring Sol, were: COMITI AVGG NN - To the Companion of Our Emperors COMITI AA VV GG - To the Companion of the Emperors (LMCC, Cloke and Toone) Earlier in the year I added this example of Constanine, a common coin with the first legend: LMCC 7.03.006 CONSTANTINVS P F AVG COMITI AVGG NN PLN/-/* 23mm, 3.44g Ex. Paul Munro-Walker Collection, Roma Numismatics 07/19 I immediately started looking for a COMITI AA VV GG reverse, but seeing that they were all rather rare I didn't hold out much hope. This cropped up on ebay recently and I snatched it up. LMCC 7.02.005 IMP LICINIVS P F AVG COMITI AA VV GG PLN/-/* 23mm, 4.45g Ex. Lockdales Not the finest condition, and very difficult to photograph due to the glossy finish and uneven surfaces and toning, but definitely an example I'm happy top add to the growing London Mint collection. My very first Ancient was a Licinius I.....I was completely green and paid 35$ for it..I'd had it for about 6 months when a friend informed me that the Emperors name was 'mispelid'....Here she is.... Your obverse legend is IMP CONSTANTINVS P AVG. This legend is not listed in RIC for this series (in fact there are no long legends listed with IMP in RIC for this issue, though they have been discovered since), but Huvelin does list it as #26 and she also shows an example in the Boursies Hoard as #346.
