From your post it appears that you know it's not the valuable DDO. Just mechanical doubling. No added value. it looks like it's in nice shape, so nothing wrong with saving it, or spending it Growing up as a collector in the east, finding an S mint coin was always special, so I would keep it for that reason.
Before you throw it back into the pond, use a Dremel tool with a small burr tip and etch into the coin, "It is not a DDO!" ~ Chris
Leave it to your heirs to figure out keep them guessing. You could rest happy knowing you left them something, yeah!
I purchased an entire collection from and estate sale auction here in Arkansas. It ended up being four large Rubbermaid tubs filled to the lid. I'll be busy for a while.
