What makes you think that this isn't a 2008 ASE bullion coin with good luster?

I am new to coins. I posted this thread hoping to help me identify a coin I could not. Everyone keeps telling me it is a fake. The stars are wrong, date is wrong, eagles head is wrong, letters in the banner are wrong... Lol...
I purchased it as a random year ASE, from what I though was a reputable dealer. Put it away, and when a buddy asked to buy a few of my ASE'S, I noticed this coin as I was searching for ones to sell. I have bought over 100 silver coins in the last 3 months, and upon researching the 2008 year of ASE, I noticed this was a 2008 with the 2007 reverse. So here I am. I sent the mint I purchased it from a message, and I have yet to hear back from them as everything is still closed down due to the Corona Virus.

I agree, looks fake to me as well!

 

I've compared the picture to my 2008 bullion coin. It looks genuine to me. I'm not sure why anyone would fake an ASE bullion coin unless it isn't really silver. It is definitely not 2008-W UNC reverse of 2007.

I am stumped as well. Looks real to me! But, again, I am new to the coin world and needed help with this coin. Are you aware of any "Fake" ASE? I cannot find any info about any.
I posted to another forum and everyone attacked me! Lol.. Like I was playing around. Asked for pics in a mirror. I did send a pic of the coin in a mirror as suggested only to be told I was playing around with the people on the forum! Wont be back there!

 

There are plenty of fake ASE's! Of course it would be much better to have it in hand to say for absolute certain, but the coin don't look right to me at all! And I'm calling it fake!! Besides, @Joshua Brooks said that "everyone keeps telling me it's fake!"

The coin could be fake. It should be also easy to tell if it is actually silver. Why would the Chinese fake something that it worth a couple dollars more than bullion value? I'm not sure they would make back their shipping and handling; let alone their manufacturing costs.

 

Well, it is silver. Tested on XRF yesterday.

 

I'll go with 2008 ASE bullion coin then; value of about $20.

 

What about the 2007 reverse?

 

I have only been collecting since about 2008. I love the ASE and buy what I can from the mint. Last years fiasco really made me mad because I had the ASE S on my enrollment. When I asked about it, they said it didn't count because of its special finish. I wasn't about to pay what the scalpers were asking, so I won't be able to complete my collection... at least from 2008 to date. Thanks for all the information on the ASEs.

 

Yes, it probably is silver but it's not real! The counterfeiters in China mint them with silver as well! Keep it in your silver pile as it's real silver, just not a real American Silver Eagle coin! Many of their counterfeits are minted in real silver, that's nothing new! The coin is a fake!

 

Here is an update to the collector ASE coins. Prices did increase in the past year as a result of the nearly 50% increase in silver value. Currently, the 2019 and 2020 collector ASE's are not currently available for sale. I'm thinking that they are sold out but the mint is waiting for all returns prior to removing from the website. In the "don't do this again" section, the release and quick sellout of the 2020-W End of World War II ASE wasn't received well in the collector's universe. Apparently, the mint was trying to honor a war that took 6 years to a sellout that took 6 minutes. Anyway, here is the latest:

 

Here is the end of the year update for the ASE collector coins. Many of the ASE's have increased in price as demand seems to be outstripping supply. The mint is getting a little crazy with this series with six ASE collector coins coupled with the two bullion coins in 2021. The W Proof and W Reverse Proof got both type 1 and type 2 versions. The Type 1 Proof is getting the love from the collector community with a value on the Bay at about $120.
