Nice broadstruck and misaligned die strikes. I especially like these on state quarters and ATB. I have been trying to get an example on various states. Here are 2 of mine.
Are these from coin rolling or pocket change? I have that Maryland with doubling on the reverse from coin rolling. Nice examples.
alas, no..bought mine on ebay/// the broadstruck was 12.00 and the mad ones were 15.00 for the pair...on that lot also bought some disfaced (counterstamped) kennedy's and some die break and mad kennedys as well all from the same vendor, cept for the broadstruck one..
it seems to me that there are a lot of examples from atb and state quarters as opposed to earlier examples?
i have seen slabbed mad quarters going for from 30-60 dollars us, and broadstruck quarters ranging in the 100-130 range...
In my 36 years of collecting Mint Errors I have never paid that much for Broadstruck or Mad Quarters.. That's ridiculous.
Paddyman98 take John under your wing and advise him on his next purchase.. a little support wouldn't hurt.....( a lot of history and experience under your belt)
every one on here says they are easily had for a lot less, yet i am still seeking a source for errors at reasonable prices...of the 2 "mad" quarters, one is misaligned on both sides, so i think that makes it a broadstrike as well, so i pd 15.00 for 1-mad, and 1-slightly off center, or broadstruck..if there were cheaper places around, i wish i knew where
I wish I knew about one also. Many sellers tend to overprice certain minor Mint Errors due to their lack of knowledge or just plain greed. They take advantage of people who don't know better. I just have the advantage of over 3 decades of collecting and watching error price trends. Ebay is not a good place to obtain errors. I've been on it for many years and have seen so many overpriced coins that I would never recommend it to learn the value of errors. IMHO
Oh and by the way.. That is called a Collar Die Break I have a thread dedicated on that mint error https://www.cointalk.com/threads/2002-p-50c-small-collar-die-break-rotating-collar-cud.287540/ That has nothing to do with a test strike nor struck through. Just a worn and damaged retaining collar that broke.
Hey, Paddy, what ya think of this one?? looks like an off center triple hit, appears to be a nose and eye, on top of jeff's face and another head on top of that..tried to pm ya, but it would not accept pics
appreciate the help..currently bidding on this one, am i seeing things?/ to the right of main portrait, an niose and eye, and at top, 2 more heads??
Just one strike off-center hit. That will go for a good premium. Just watch it. Deformities will occur with these type of off center strikes. Edit.. Looking at it carefully. It does look like more than 1 strike. I see a second profile. Cool.
