Sounds like your toybox is very similar to mine and those of my 6 children.

What kind of lunatic fringe craziness is this? Have you been listening to talk radio again? Please remove the original post and my reply - not because it’s political, but because it is so deranged as to defy categorization.

And you are wise enough to make that determination by yourself? Rather childish, also. What I said was mild compared to the post I was referring to.

I would never do that but people will... If it gets bad enough and its a matter of survival... People will. I live in Texas where everyone and their granny and new born has a gun and when it all hits the fan, gold and silver isn't going to cut it. I think history has shown that precious metals at a time of anarchy and severe shortages isn't going to go far, it becomes a might makes right situation. It's better to have practical things.

I do have gold and silver but not for anything but to possibly sell when prices go up and buy when they go down....or just to keep until I need the money and hope I make a profit...and coins.... that I don't sell :)

Gold sellers love people to think the monetary system will fail and you will need gold....so they can sell it to you above spot and take your 'fiat' currency as payment. It's almost criminal the way they play on people fear and make it seem like gold is some special cure all that is inherently valuable.

    OK, I apologize for that.

The original post you referred to was, indeed, a bizarre speculation based on a proposed sequence of events, each of which would be outrageously unlikely to ever happen. There’s no accounting for paranoid delusions and doomsday scenarios. I would have to guess it’s some form of delusion, but I am not certified to make a clinical diagnosis. But, it certainly does not sound like anything in the universe I live in.

Before I make my next statement, I must say that I am not political. I try to operate independently of influences of the right or left. But I do find to try where the truth lies. Some will then apply political biases to what I say, or some imaginary subtext which I do not intend. I can’t help that.

I was also not happy about your statement that Hillary Clinton wanted to make the United States of America part of the European Union. I asserted that this was nonsense, and I will say again that this sounds like a fabricated fantasy promoted by hyper-political elements to destabilize her candidacy. After searching, all I can find is that it would have been a priority for the Clinton administration to strengthen ties with Europe. We have a long tradition of cooperative relationships with Europe, so I don’t see where this overture is even a blip on the ongoing policy of our country. In fact, we should strengthen ties with other regions as well, ensuring their stability and reducing global turmoil. It’s cheaper than war. Or am I missing multi-layered conspiracy theories that make this sound like a bad idea?

That is what I called out. Maybe it is childish to actually try to find out the underlying facts, and then use my best effort at understanding them, but I guess that is one of my failings. That, and getting fed up with people spouting nonsense that doesn't bear the mildest scrutiny.

I did not intend to offend or enrage you, but to point out that you should justify statements like that, not just throw them out there as if they were fact.

Of course I meant historically speaking...the only use for these metals were decoration and to REPRESENT value. Of course monarchs knew what the real value was, land and people The fact that both now have some practical value makes them even less ideal to use as money as they now have real value as a practical commodity on the markets.

Even with some modern practical value, 90 percent or more the gold in the world is still used to make pretty things. Historically speaking both had almost no practical applications in most people lives...

An economy should not be based on one or two commodities. It should be based on the sum total of a nation's wealth and production. What represents that wealth doesn't matter as long as it isn't worth more than the face value as a commodity. There are other ways to control inflation and devaluation...and history has shown that simply basing your monetary system on gold and silver doesn't stop bad monetary policy from ignoring gold as a control just as much as they may ignore policy controls.

@RonSanderson In 25 words or less, I do agree with your position and apologize for so quick a response. I can't blame it on much other than the turmoil we are in. However, grown people should not use that for an excuse either. So, I will just let this tread go, get back to coins and offer my best to you.

How ironic. At the top of the page is an advertisement section. If you are not a "supporter" you get ads. Big Brother is really watching. As soon as the above discussion ended an advertisement regarding HC popped up. Are we in fact being spied on, or is this just coincidental?

Better chance that aliens take over the world, or getting hit by lightning 10 times in the same day you won PowerBalll than that initial scenario happening.

Your browser, search engines, computer etc are the ones tracking you to give you targeted ads like that

Yes, I will agree it's almost criminal but if the system wasn't rigged folks would have a fair chance. As it is now, the game is rigged beyond imagination and folks are left wondering edited every time they dump billions in fake paper on the market and drive the price down. But there's a reason, what happens when a asset is suppressed? It goes down, but what if? Didn't you notice back in Sept. 2019 about the insiders dumping? Or how about the repo market blowing up? Or how gold/silver finally broke out of multi year lows? Oh yeah and let's not forget the yield curve inversion?

Folks better start wondering "what if" and if you don't know the answer then there is still time to figure it out, but don't expect every thing to return to normal anytime soon, cause it might not and you gotta be ready.

So, Mr. Privy, do you think that is a lie? Did that event happen? Do you have sources to disprove that event?
or Do you just win your arguments through mockery and ridicule?

    Science Fiction ? Hardly.

Are you saying these things never happened?
or Are you insisting they could never happen in the good ol' USA ?

Don't be afraid of the truth.

Haven't you ever heard " Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of the past are doomed to repeat them." ?

Under the right circumstances, the same scenario could play out right here at home.

Are you guys so in fear of something like this, that to even mention such a scenario as a topic of discussion, causes such irrational attacks on a simple messenger, causes mass denial of plausibility, causes otherwise normal people to put their fingers in their ears and scream "Stop", I don't want to hear it anymore.

Jeeze, It's getting to where a guy can't talk about anything around here anymore without prior approval from the " In Crowd".
