it might be a waste they couldnt find 3000 people to buy it i recommend the britannia gold set a better deal but more expensive here is the link

If I'm going to drop $2600, I rather do it on US coinage.

I won't be buying any buffalos. It seems doubtful that they are worth any more than bullion value so the premium is not justified.

I agree with you that these coins will probably be worth nothing more than bullion..... But when would the premium above melt be justified? The mint will always get their cut. Just like the American Eagles, only those that like the coins and have the funds will be buying them.

I was just thinking while reading this...

Someone mentioned the 10th ounce was for sale at $130...

The Britannia 10th ounce proof gold is for sale at £105 on the royal mint website...$210.

    (The quarter ounce is $400)

are you guys ready to buy today

12:00 noon today. are you guys ready to buy?. let's clear the 1/4 oz proof and uncirculated buffalo gold coins. today gold is at $973.00 per ounce. the mint is using $900.00 per ounce to price buffalo. so you are saved by 8% bullion wise.

i want to start a fractional set for my son, but i still haven't decided which coin to get. it sounds like the 1/4 oz. will be very popular. for now i'll get both the proof and the unc., but i also put in a pre-order for a slabbed 1/4 oz. "first year of issue, ultra cameo ngc70 proof" at one of the online retailers for $399 (no deposit, no commitment to buy & the $399 price is an estimate.)

if gold continues to rise the mint may reprice these upward so i'll buy them this week. yeah, if gold drops these may drop to bullion prices on the secondary market, but this will be our collection and not our investment.

Not sure if this is a problem or not, but I just went on line at 12:04 to order. After ordering, I went to my account to make sure the order was there. It was, but it said order suspended and it gave the time of the order as July 22, 2008 at 12:04 AM!

Now I'm not sure if it went through or not. Looks like the mint's clock is 12 hours off.
