Again, Welcome to Coin Talk. Your last line reads "ONE MILLION NICKELS SEARCHED" so I know that's were you're referring to. We have a lot of newcomers and I think it would be more helpful if, after the starting date, you wrote less than 10 million Jefferson nickels minted. Just a suggestion. :)
edit. I look forward to tracking your progress.

Cool. Nickels would be my denomination of choice for such a project. Somewhere I have an old Whitman folder that I decided to try to fill from CRH finds. Got it most of the way full, but I don't find War nickels these days like I regularly used to, back in the '90s.

Over the decades, I'd say I've found almost all of them except maybe the '39-D and '50-D. That latter is gonna be tough. Not a lot of '50-D nickels made it into circulation, as you know, since they were hoarded at the time. It could happen, though.

    Good luck!

I've been very lucky with the 1950-D. During the years Of hunting i got about a full roll of 1950-D. Ranging from XF to BU. I always seem to find them in great shape. Nickels by far are my absolute favorite. I have had more trouble finding the 1939-D nickels compared to the 50D.

Really? Wow. I'm surprised to hear that. Not surprised to hear that some of the ones you've found are BU. The XF is a bit more surprising. You of course would find them in much better shape due to the hoarding, I'm sure.

I honestly believe over the many years of finding them its other collectors dumping them back to the banks. AU/BU is common to find. But every now and then ill find one that has gone through some hands and be a high XF-45. As a lot of collectors are aware back in 1950 people knew the 50D was going to be a low mintage and a ton of people did in fact hoard them. So when I do find them in XF I am as well shocked.

Why a 1975 for your avatar, out of curiosity? Birthyear?

It is my favorite error. The 1975 D high mintmark. I have 5 of them. Including one that I found in a Gem BU roll. I recently sold one for $500 on ebay in a time frame of 10 mintues when it went live. Probably could of got a grand but wanted to test the market. Very rare and sought after. Plenty of Youtube videos on it if you are interested on the history of the coin. The remaining 4 I have will stay forever in my collection.

I also wanted it as my avatar to catch the attention of new or expert nickel hunters. Only a select few will know what this is :)
