Just be patient. You can find government-issued 1/10 oz gold for no more than 5% over spot.

Gotta mention that many moons ago when I was ordering coins from First Coinvesters they would throw in a Mexican Dos Pesos as an extra!!! (I said many moons ago). I ended up with 6 of them, but my sister swiped two of them to be made into earrings!

    so 50 X $60 = $3,000 for an oz. geez that's a very high premium.

With all the news reports that there's a big political upheaval going on in Venezuela, I thought, it's time for me to get a Venezuelan gold coin. It weighs 3 grams and it's a 1957 Sorocaima Indian Chief Caciques de Venezuela Gold Coin Siglo XVI Ley .900. I actually won it on pebay in a toe to toe auction! :D

Bullion coins were issued by governments long before the Krugerrand and the Maple Leaf. For example, most French roosters, Austrian gold dated 1892 and 1915, and Mexican gold dated 1945, 1947, 1955 and 1959 are mostly restrikes that were issued as bullion coins to get around US gold import restrictions imposed in the early 1960s.

Chinese Pandas are hot at coin shows here in Tokyo, but are mostly popular with Chinese buyers. I don't know of any bullion dealers who are interested in them, they seem to prefer Maple Leafs and Philharmonics, and some also like the Australian Kangaroos. And US bullion coins are "scrap" to them.

Got a Mexican Libertad a couple of months ago! :D Yeah a 1/10th and I paid a high premium for it, one of the highest I ever paid! I hate paying such a high premium but I don't have any regrets as the premium you'll pay today is even more. Supply and demand! :D

    Hello Goldbugs, J.T. newbie here,
For what it's worth, when gold was around $900 an ounce I decided to try and cover
both the bullion & collectible side of investing by putting together a complete set of the 1.2057 oz. pure gold Mexican circulating 50 Peso coins. (1921-1931/ 1943-1947)
It was my understanding that these were some of, if not the largest 'circulating'
gold coins ever minted, set-wise anyway. I purchased the majority from Northern Nevada Coin @ broken.com, All 3rd party graded MS-63 to MS-65. These are very nicely designed coins and the set does have 2 low mintage 'keys' (1921 & 1931) + a 1 year (1943) variety.
I have to say it's been a blast having this set and watching their prices move hither & yon.
    Cheers from Steamy Houston,
    J.T. Parker
