If goldcollector did rip off another member...

Well the truth is @goldcollector is not the first alleged ripoff on this coin forum at all. There's been other ripoffs but they simply left after the prospective buyers confronted them on this forum. The problem with this situation is @goldcollector doesn't respond to anyone's questions about this alleged ripoff. There's no doubt he didn't deliver, the question is why? I've sold on this forum plenty, not for awhile but I used to buy and sell on this forum all the time. There's a lot of good people on CT and I hate to think that one bad apple is gonna change anything.

A more subtle form of protest would be for everyone to ignore the offending member. Then they can post away but no one will ever see the posts. Kind of a passive-aggressive "shunning".

But yes, if I were the one that was taken advantage of, I would definitely report it to his local authorities and do what I could to make his life miserable. Of course, that depends on the amount of money that is in question. If it's $20 I'd write it off to a bad experience. If it was $200 I'd be more aggressive. Most alleged ripoffs probably don't want the sheriff knocking on the door.

Yeah I thought of that but I think this sends a bigger message. Besides, people not in the know or newbie's wouldn't get it. He knows what he did and he knows how we feel about it. His last thread speaks volumes as far as I'm concerned and I'll ignore that for sure.

 

Who cares what he posts? Hes the biggest troll I’ve ever seen on any forum, not to mention his arrogance is disgusting. What he says means nothing. Bashing people for buying silver is just plain juvenile. Ignore him and let the thief post away. Nobody cares.

 

It's not about you. It's about other members who could be ripped off by him if this goes unaddressed. It's about garlicus who wants justice.

So who cares if his trolling annoys you and you want to just ignore him. None of that matters. Think about the user who says he was ripped off. Think about the other users who could be scammed in the future if we don't warn them. Those are the people I care about.

 

Again, it is only in the hands of the ones that did the transaction. No one but them can know exactly what happened, and continuing to call out members when one is not directly involved in the action looks more and more like trolling itself. Be careful what you involve yourself in when you do so as continued accusations due to hearsay ( true or not) is not going to continue. I know neither individual personally , only by their posting, but I believe they are intelligent enough to consult legal advice if they feel they have been transgressed, and it is not for us to get involved if they do not. The guy is rude and is just here to incite conflict with his posts. He just likes to ridicule. If the mods can't do anything about that then I say we all block him.

Sorry, but that's just like walking down the street and ignoring the hit and run driver you saw strike a pedestrian and flee the scene. You have an ethical obligation to report it. You have an obligation to confront injustice. Same principle here. Again, we don't know if goldcollector is actually a scammer, but we do know he is accused of it. And we know has ignored all attempts to deal with.

We can all ignore goldcollector and ignore that he has been accused of ripping someone off and potentially allow him to do it again. Or, we can post after him in after thread that he must address the accusations against him and possibly help bring justice for the person he ripped off and prevent the same thing from happening to other people.

 

Or we can ask the accuser to shut up. And his sycophants too. 99% of the posters here probably never witnessed anything (i.e. never saw the hit-n-run incident). You won't convince me to participate in this lynch mob.

You're right CoinCorgi, you have a point there. Unfortunately we have more members on here who really don't care. I don't even have any suggestions on where to take this thread and where to stand on it. I'm absolute certain that Garlicus got ripped off but I can't prove it so I think I'll simply keep an eye on this thread and see what happens to it.

What does that even mean? They're handling it by ignoring it? I guess that's one way to look at it. I really don't think they can legally do much anyways. I think the point was made though as @goldcollector hasn't been back on this forum since this thread started. So if everyone checks on this thread every now and then maybe we will get lucky and never hear from him again. Now if you were in goldcollector's shoes and you didn't rip anyone off, don't you think you would speak up? Silence is a sign of guilt to me! nuff said!

 

Goldcollector hasn’t been on the site since Monday night. Maybe he has a suspicion that he’s not in the good graces of a lot of members.

 

I think the owner-administrators can do anything they deem to be in the best interests of the site. I could be wrong, but this is a private site that the members are given the privilege of using. The owner can bar anyone for any reason — or none at all.

The site obviously does not do that, though, and for my money, is a fair bunch of folks that only asks we follow a few simple rules.

Go over to CU and try to pull something. You ARE gone in a split second. If it wasn’t fair, tough beans.
