And the forum is unwilling to step in for liability reasons, it is our responsibility to follow goldcollector around on this forum in every thread he posts until he addresses the issue.

I'll be happy to follow him around, are you saying we will call him to the carpet on each post he makes?? :D He's a real dirt bag for doing that to @Garlicus and by CT allowing him to continue to create and post on this forum is totally bunk! :banghead: That said, I understand their predicament. ;)

The forum cannot intervene. They are polite enough to allow us a space where we can make our own deals among our buddies here. I have done quite a few and made some great friends along the way. But the forum cannot facilitate transactions short of becoming another Ebay. Having said that, any person that lies and steals another persons money is the lowest of the low and they will be faced with recompense one day.

No, the forum cannot intervene. So, the members must find justice themselves. If goldcollector will simply ignore posts from the member he wronged, then the entire forum must make sure all members know. That means posting after goldcollector in every thread of this board where he has posted.

I would also encourage the wronged member to contact goldcollector's local police department. Federal mail fraud charges might be too late at this point. Contacting his local coin shops and clubs might also be a good idea.

Do not post any information publicly.

We don't know if goldcollector did anything wrong, but his running from the problem makes it appear he did. He must address it.

In most cases, I'm against online lynch mobs. It's the whole he said/she said thing, with the potential for abuse that that entails.

    In most cases.

In this case, one party has posted transcripts of messages, and his posting history over time on the subject supports his claim. The other party? Not a peep on the topic.

Yeah, I'm perfectly okay with effectively attaching a footnote to every post goldcollector makes, until he addresses the issue.

I may be speaking out of turn..... However as I recall this member may have been the root of the motivation for the recent warning that is on our sale forum.

I'm trying to not even assume goldcollector is guilty, because I have no way of knowing. But when the situation on the forum is that the moderatos stay out of transactions, then I think it's our responsibility to at least bring to attention that a user has been accused of stealing so others can proceed with caution.

I think it is much better to say that the situation of the moderators is that EVERYONE except the ones directly involved in the transaction should stay out of the transaction details, as they are the only ones that really know what has happened and what the facts are. Eventually these "embarrass the bad guy until he/she coughs up" can get nasty and garlicus is correct, some member can decide to be the Savior figure and correct a wrong for someone else and say things which are unacceptable and the mods have to take action under the rules. The B/S/T forums seem to be the ones that are misused most by members and their basis often seems shaky to remain. You notice Dougs special notices at the top of the listings in the BST forums. IMO as I am not an admin of the forum. Jim

Some of the best friends I have made these last two years have been via the Buy/Sell forum. I sure hope the future of that part of this forum doesn't have as much of a shaky future as it sound like it may.
