Go on ebay uk and search enamelled coins with 2 l 's English spelling.
They are highly collected in the UK and quite $$$$$

Yes, I know about Victorian enameled coins, as I used to be a love token collector. They're not my cuppa tea, usually, though some can be handsome.

I got some Chinese cash coins with old enameling in a big bulk lot once. It looks good on those.

Great contest and the entries (and replies) are fun to read. Great idea.

My first gold coin I acquired is a 1926 $10 Indian Eagle. Both sides are pretty spectacular - I had to have one.

My coin-related is a photo of my one dollar gold coin. I really want an 1849 one dollar gold coin. I may still find one to my liking. While searching I found this 1850 one dollar in a coin shop (while traveling on business) that spoke to me. It was the right price!

    Yow! :greedy::greedy::greedy:

I had a 1908 NM Saint like that, once upon a time, just after 9/11, when bullion was cheap. Mine was only a mere MS63, however. (PCGS OGH.) Paid four hundred bucks delivered for the thing! Ahh, those were the days to collect gold! Nowadays I could not even afford the melt value of a double eagle.

That's a sweetie. I wouldn't have graded it 66, personally, but NGC has infinitely more experience with that kind of stuff than I do.

Show it off and be proud! That's a perfectly good use of your "coin-related" content in an entry post here.

Awesome grouping of bronzes. I like how you display them around the eagle standard.

My first gold coin was a gift 30 years ago, from my best childhood friend, for my 30th birthday. It is a 1/4 oz AGE. IMO it's a beautiful coin.

Story.....that same friend and I were CRH's as kids. About 47 years ago we did our daily routine of going to the bank, the Amalgamated Bank in the Bronx, NY to get some rolls. One of the rolls I opened was filled with 50 1943 steel cents. That was the most epic CRH find I had. Even to this day. I've had plenty of silvers here and there but never a whole roll of something. That feeling I can only describe as jubilant.

Great story. How did the coins look?

I hit upon a small hoard of War nickels one time and a batch of 40% silver halves another time. Each of those windfalls was about 3-4 rolls' worth. Got a bunch of Sacagawea & Native American dollars another time that was obviously a complete set someone had deposited in the bank.

The War nickel hoard was full of black, gunky, greasy coins, but I didn't mind that a bit. I'll take silver at face value any time, however it comes.

All the '43's were 'nicely worn'. ;)
The act of finding them was exhilarating though.

I also have a parallel giveaway on Collectors Universe up now, if any of y'all are members over there. It runs in a similar (but not identical) manner to these here.

Please post an entry over there, if you are so inclined. (If your username is different over there, let me know who you are.)

I am in the process of adding more fun stuff to my swaplist, so the selection for the "wildcard" prize (Prize #3) will likely get larger through the month.

Here is the selection list for Prize #3 so far. I will add more to it as time goes on.

found this dos pesos with my detector. it was made into an earring. found in a park where several older US gold coins have been dug. the $20 is my fav. I sold about 300 silver dimes that I found with my detector when silver peaked at $50. bought this 20D with that money. so technically I got it for almost free.

At one time I had over 30 ounces of U.S. and world gold....all in 1/10 -1 oz. Coins!
Then gold went wild and since I had purchased it so low I had to sell it all off :(
Oh well you can't take it with you....and enjoyed owning it while I did...
