1 LB Copper Bars

Thank you fo everyones response. I wasn't trying to buy and hold as a future investment. Like I said, I bought quite a few about 8 years ago. I've been selling my 1lb bars for $11.50, plus shipping. I only had 15 and I'm down to 2. Was just hoping to replenish my stock, while they are moving. This is a really cool forum and with great response from all of you. Glad I found it.

Perhaps you have not been to a coin show in recent years, but if you have, you would know that some dealers have had copper rounds and bars out for sale as if they were numismatic “investments.” Believe me, they were not offering these pieces as jokes. They were/are looking for buyers who think copper will be like silver and gold for “poor people” who don’t have the $100 or so to put into a precious metal investment in bulk.

 

You only get out what you put in to it, Copper will never achieve any success
Near Silver, so what your left with is a really big paper weight...LOL

 

In a coin store today, 5 copper bullion rounds the dealer had given a $1.00 value in on fractional ounce gold bullion. Dealer has marked for resell at $3 each, only had 2 left. Everyone wins!

Is valuable in large amounts as a former A/C Mechanic i made many
Trips to the scrap yard, but were talking 750lbs @ 1.45 per lb back
Then so around $1,090.00 some serious scratch in those days,
and i would say that was about average had a couple trips over
1,000Lbs so when you do the math at $3 per coin your way
Behind the eight ball at that price if your looking at investing.

Tough crowd here. I think laying in piles of LMCs as "copper bullion" is pretty pointless, but if stamped copper bars have a market as collectibles, why not play that market?

People collect sillier things.

 

Like I said earlier, I like the designs on the 1 oz. copper rounds. I usually pay around $2 per round give or take as he case may be. However When I make it to a show I refuse to pay the $5 per ounce they are asking. Sone of them will sell the same design at a discount but you must buy a tube of 20. No thanks. They are low priced and make a collection. They are not an investment.

While waiting for a Dr. appointment went to a coin store today, the dealer had given a $1.00 value in trade for each of 5 copper bullion rounds to a customer in exchange purchase of fractional ounce gold bullion coins ( 1/10th ounce) .The Dealer has marked the copper for resell at $3 each and only had 2 left. Everyone wins!......addendum ~ No I did not buy them. Did buy a 42/41 "Mercury". Jim

 

Copper is naturally beautiful in its normal state, So coins and bars etc
Look really attractive, however over time and with certain elements
Acting on it, it does turn dark and eventually green, at that point
What do you do.....LOL
