In 2017 the Falkland Islands issued a bullion coin commemorating the 35th Anniversary of Liberation. Remember the 1982 Falkland Island war between Great Britain and Argentina? Original mintage was to be 50,000. When first released in reverse proof, the coins had the moto "Britannia Rules the Waves". This created a problem with Great Britain which owned the trademark on the use of the name "Britannia". An order was issued to remove the motto. Only 7,329 coins were issued and released with the motto. The remaining 42,671 did not have a motto.
Another issue was the motto of "Rules the Waves", a statement. This was considered an error since the original wording was "Britannia, Rule the Waves", a command. So the coin is considered a double error of sorts.

Check out this sweet 2 pence! I've wanted one of these big cartwheel things for a while.

I read somewhere that this was the first coin to show Britannia with the waves.

    This thing is a monster!

That's a beauty! I remember when I got my first one I felt kind of overjoyed at such a big heavy hunk of copper!

I Found this accumulation of foreign coins at a local junk store in southern GA for about $6.00. Shown is a pair predecimal GB £1 notes from 1940 and 1950 respectively along with $25.80 in AUD and a single Swiss 5 Franc coin. Not to mention the same accumulation also had a large number of modern South Korean Won coins and a large amount of modern 5,10,100 Yen coins. junk store.jpg

Love that 1868 Florin - I have looked for this date in MS in vain for many years and always seem to just miss it. Very nice job!
