Hello guys, I currently have a couple hundred 1 oz silver bars/rounds in my stack and I store them in tubes. However, I have a few extra bars/rounds and sometime I may get some bars with different weight. How should I store these. Some people have said that you could just get an empty monster box and put them in there? I store all of my junk silver in jars but don't know what to do with the extra silver. Thanks.
Maybe some day, the funeral industry will have to allow tupperware caskets if someone wants to be preserved without wormholes. They can be opaque for the viewing.
This is just something to consider. Take about $1350 worth and convert them into a 1 oz gold bar. That would solve the storage problem.
You can't have tupperware as it's air permeable as per a thread about them recently. You have to have glass!! So big Ball Mason jars ... personally .. I just weld all my 3rd party silver rounds together.
With a couple hundred of them, I doubt you're talking about art bars with collectible valuable. If you are, buy air tites for them to protect their premium. However, I don't think you are talking about that. I think you are talking about a pile of silver with no extra value. In that case do 1 of the following. 1) Take your couple hundred bars and rounds (which I take to literally mean 2, since a couple is 2, no more, no less) and buy 2.5 ounces of gold (almost an exact conversation at the moment). Store those 3 coins (2 one ouncers and 1 half ouncer) in individual airtites someplace safe. 2) Or, buy a monster box, as you suggested, or build a quick wood storage container and put all your bars in that. They are generic bars with no numismatic value. Let them tarnish. Who cares what they look like.
Buy a safe and the plastic coin containers at local coin shop. You should be able to get a decent Safe for about 700$ good enough... 4 foot high and fits in a closet. has a shelf or two, nothing fancy, but worth the security.
