Hello, I was looking through some bills and I found these and I’m not too sure if they are rare or not. The first photo is almost a ladder, 03060303, the second has many threes and zeros, the third isn’t about a serial number, there is some sort of lined print in the corner, maybe an error? And the fourth has many eights and ones. Thanks! -Matthew
That is not what a Ladder is.. 12345678, 23456789, 87654321, 98765432 are ladders The rest are spenders.
Ignore the nay-sayers. Numismatics appeals to people with poor social skills. So, they will tell you that you have junk to make themselves feel that their trash is treasure. It is all trash. It is all treasure. It depends on what you find in it for yourself. As MPCUSA said, it is a good poker hand and people play "Liar's Poker" with dollar bills. We did that one night at our coin club with the prizes just being the usual door prizes, but it was nice to see the arrays that people found. (The rules were you had to find in circulation since the previous meeting.) Every serial number is unique. Start with that. We have a long thread of 11 pages on Circulation Finds: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/different-circulation-finds.272056/page-11 People go ape over 07041776 or 04071776 and so on. But there is story, I think that it was Srinivas Ramanujan and G. H. Hardy, a couple of mathematicians, and I am sorry not to know it exactly but it was like "I have your train ticket old man... Hmmm... not a very interesting number." "Oh, but of course it is! 4272066! See: 20.66 is the square root of 427." It depends on your relationship with numbers and most people here can count money but are basically innumerate. They just do not see the patterns in numbers or the numbers in patterns. Keep the note. Look for others. They are out there. from Mike M.
Off topic, and I'm sure the experienced members know this but Buddy Ebsen (Jed Clampett in the Beverly Hillbillies) was an avid coin collector. Here is a pic of the auction catalog when his coins were sold in the 1987.
Though that is ultra cool ! it would be way better in the coin forum Where it would actually make CENTS....LOL
