It looks like The Royal Mint is now using the Royal Canadian Mint's radial line security strategy.

Improved security or not, I really like the look those lines give the coins. Nice change of pace from the same old all the time

 

Oh, no, those are completely different. More cosmetic, I'd say, and bigger as well. These new radial lines are very thin and primarily for security because of how hard the fine detail is to reproduce. But as another poster mentioned, they also give the coin a beautiful appearance, almost a pin wheeling effect in the light.

 

Hope these don't spot as badly as Canadian Silver coins. I have a Dansco for Canadian Maple Leafs. When I was putting my 2019 in it's slot, I noticed my 2017 has developed the dreaded spots. Ugh. Such a beautiful bullion piece, but the spotting problem stinks.

I know they've announced a "fix" for this well known problem, but it doesn't help all those coins already in the marketplace. It's not like they can issue a re-call and fix the issue...lol.

I ordered both versions of the 2019 Royal Mint Britannia (Oriental border and "standard" border).
