Hi all, I know it's probably a bit of a long shot, but does anyone have any leads on where I might find a Dansco Swiss Confederation album? Thank you in advance! I'm also looking for any of the old Continental Line albums (Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, etc.) so any leads in that direction would also be most appreciated.
Most of the world dansco albums are difficult to find (they haven’t been produced in many years). Searching eBay would be one option (although that can still take a while before someone lists an example).
Good luck with the search! I have one in progress, and take me 10 months to find it.. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/album-german-commemoratives-1922-1957.252408/ I also look for one in particular, The Dansco for German Colonies Type Coins.
Dansco should make a whole line again of type set albums for many countries. I'd buy a lot of them since i collect everything
I've got the Dansco Australia, New Zealand & Guatemala, plus Whitman Philippines, Great Britain, Mexico, Panama & Australia. Brooklyn Coins and Supply used to have a great many, but who knows now?
Here is the Brooklyn Gallery website It's under maintenance but try calling http://www.brooklyngallery.com
Thank you all! I've been lurking on Ebay for a while now and have managed to secure a number of the other albums (Guatemala, Nicaragua, Canada, Mexico, even Japan) but the Swiss has always eluded me.
Check out the full list in the back of the old Dansco albums. It lists a lot of countries you wouldn't expect, like Fiii, Hong Kong, etc. There are actually more; I've seen Continental Line albums for Germany, Scandinavia, Austria, and Czechoslovakia, but trying to buy one is another story completely.
Finally located one! (Stumbled across an old reddit posting from years ago and turns out the seller still had it.)
Ive found a canadian whitman type album that was falling apart a little at a coin show for a few bucks. It’s actually pretty nice considering they’re hard as heck to find. I also got an england lower denomination type album, again at a small show for almost nothing. If we keep looking, we’ll find some!
I recently got this rare Dansco Continental Line for the silver Scandinavian commemorative (Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden) between 1863 and 1960.
These albums were last made in late 60s which would be easily 60 years ago (!) Makes you wonder how many were issued. Maybe about 5000 - 10000 at most? There's other foreign manufacturers that make interesting coin albums.
I found four of these albums in early January for under $100.00 on eBay. Japan Type No. 7460 Hong Kong Type No. 7450 Swiss Confederation Type No. 7500 Cuba Type No. 7240
I own the normal version of the Hong Kong type set. I managed to plug in all holes except one - the last time I saw one sold was 2000+ dollars (!!!). It's the 1866 half dollar if you are wondering...
It was the only one a CA dealer had. Prices have skyrocketed for this sort of album, particularly in nice condition. I am looking to purchase the following.
