This is a 1988 error cent. The rim is larger and covers the in God we trust on the obverse and reverse the rim covers half of the United states of America, also has which I believe is called a lamination error. Is it worth grading & has any value ?
I'm sorry guys , I'm trying to understand where the damage is from the comments I see . Someone please explain .
Yes, it is hard to understand as it's just not one quick action. Maybe go find a friend that works on commercial dryers and ask him about money found between the drums here is a good thread about it, showing examples with much discussion => https://www.cointalk.com/threads/dryer-coin-vs-spooned-coin.304963/ When we mention dryer coin we are not stating that it fell out of a pocket and tumbled around with the clothes INSIDE of the drum with the clothes? They can tumble around and sooner or later gets past the lint filter in between the drums. yours apparently has a bunch of heat damage too. Such as this post from https://www.cointalk.com/threads/1966-quarter.320371/#post-3140681 Welcome to CoinTalk.
You actually didn't read my entire post huh? Let's actually "google" this .. 'ya know .. research the validity. or https://www.appliance-parts-experts.com/remove-coins-stuck-in-dryer.html http://www.fixya.com/support/t19432051-coin_stuck_behind_drum_tumble_dryer https://www.homeownershub.com/maintenance/coin-dropped-into-dryer-lint-filter-215191-.htm quote of the year on this coin in the dryer help page "my wife inadvertently pushed a nickel past the front drum seal" <== yes it really does say that. https://www.justanswer.com/appliance/618hq-dropped-coin-down-lint-filter-trying-retrieve.html This is apparently such a problem that the maker "Edgestar" makes a washer/dryer with a "coin trap". See # 4 someplace new to check instead of CoinStars rejection bins ... Of course coins can also get stuck inside the baffles too.
