It's the ending that awaits most me-too bandwagons. And besides, someone has to buy the top so that someone else can get rich.

Y'all come back now ya hear.

Agree. Silver is a joke played on newbies who don't yet realize that its Quality not Quantity.

It must be nice to have your own crystal ball to be so sure.

No crystal ball. Just years and years and years of experience listening to the silver side spew the same nonsense that always turns out to be wrong.

Thread started with GSR 68.93 its almost 90 now. Surprise Surprise they were wrong yet again. No crystal ball needed to predict that.

I'm willing to believe that the data points are valid. The decorations are decorations.

    Quality?
Like in a MS 70 ASE? Or even PRF 70?
I used to see them on sale in Coinage for $70.
Modern coins, especially non circulating issues are very high grade. A 69 or 70 isnt what it used to be.
Lots of reasons to collect silver.
Precious metals have always had value, and there is no reason that will change. I am not exactly ancient, but remember coins were made of silver, (gold and copper too) because silver increased in value past $1 an ounce, and Uncle Sam could no longer make his 10% profit from 90% coins.
Now, even the humble cent is made mostly of pot metal, with only a pittance of copper and it still costs more than its worth. And the primary reason is higher metal value.
It may not be likely, but if it all hits the fan, precious metals will be the new money, not worthless paper money. And it will be a lot easier to trade in dimes, quarters, halves and dollars than in gold eagles, etc. How much gold can you put away, and can you really expect change for your gold $20 coin?
PM's have had value for thousands of years, and not only still do, in our modern, high tech culture, but its value has hit historic highs.
So, its prepostourous to state that PM's will be worthless if there is a collapse. Its obviously not true.

You quoted me so I assume your last comment was aimed at me. Never ever have I claimed PM's would be worthless. My position is Gold is the better play by far, and this thread nearly 1.5 years have proven it true. Just as the decade prior to this thread did...and so on.

Yes its quality not quantity. You talk about MS 70 ASE's. They are worth $40 or $45 if youre lucky. Not exactly a top notch piece. Not even enough over spot to recoup all costs of grading. I just bought an 1891 $5 liberty PCGS MS 62 for $505 shipped. Go figure why the 1891 Philly's are so much cheaper than the 1891 CC when both mintage and population report is much much lower for the philly issue in 1991. The total 1891 Philadelphia's in PCGS MS are double digits, not even 100 graded in MS yet can be had for $500. Thats less coins than 25-30 ASES for the same money but still a far better buy.

Almost every ASE I have ever seen would probably be a 69 or 70 as well as every nickel, dime, and quarter from the new rolls that come from the bank every year. That is not what defines a quality coin.
